Norma Meyer and Ava Hall are the owners of Happy Bee Flowers & Gifts. Norma is originally from Texas and moved here 4 years ago to open the flower shop. Ava was married to Norma’s Brother (BJ) and they have been best friends for 30+ years! Ava was born and raised in Porter and worked at her grandparents orchard (Dean’s Orchard), as a teenager and graduated from Porter high school. The childhood memories of her hometown Peach Festivals are their inspiration for the homemade products they make and sell during the Peach season and at the Peach Festival.
They specialize in custom floral bouquets and unique gift items that set them apart from the big box stores! Small town living is the best! They appreciate each and every one of their customers and love the fact that they can visit with their neighbors while supplying a service.
Their motto is: “We are big enough to fulfill all of your floral and gift needs but, small enough to care and give exceptional customer service!”

Our third contest is Explore Porter, and we encourage you to do just that! On the business’s designated day you can visit them and buy a product from the list below, take a selfie of you holding the item, and post it to Facebook. You must tag the Porter Peach Festival Page, write something in your status and put at the bottom. Everyone who participates will be entered into a daily drawing for a prize.
Example – You go to The Peach Barn on Friday and purchase any peachy dessert, and then take a selfie of you and your dessert, post it to Facebook, and type something along the lines of “ I explored Porter and went to The Peach Barn. ” as your status, and tag the Porter Peach Festival page. Then you will be entered into Friday’s drawing for a prize.

Our second contest is called “Where in Porter is the Peach”? It is our Peach Scavenger Hunt. Each day we will hide a peach at a business in Porter. The time and businesses will be listed below. The goal is for you to go into the business during the allotted time and find the missing peach. Once you find the peach please go see the cashier and they will give you a certificate to claim your prize at either Livesay Orchards or The Peach Barn. Not only do you get to claim a prize you also get to give the missing peach a home! There will only be one missing peach per day.

Rules
1. You can only find ONE peach for the whole week.
2. You can claim your prize for finding the peach from the business. Please follow the instructions on the Certificate to see if you redeem it at Livesay Orchards or The Peach Barn.
3. We would appreciate you letting the business take your photo so we can post our winners on our page.
4. We ask that you do not be disruptive or destructive while searching for your peach in the business. The business may ask you to leave if you are being unruly.
5. You get to keep the missing peach once you have found it, and it give it a home.

Our great nieces and nephew had a great time at the Porter Peach Festival this year! Hope everyone enjoyed the festival as much as they did! How cute are they??

What an AMAZING 2022 Peach Festival we had. Thanks to each and every one of you that visited our store, commented on and bought all the PEACHY THINGS we had to offer. We work hard to provide our customers with peach related items (after all that is why you are here) that we make from scratch. This year we made 66 9x13 peach cobblers, 200 pieces of peach fudge, 220 peachy peach ice cream sandwiches, 200 bags of our peach/raspberry tea mix and 52 gallons of that tea sold by the glass. We completely sold out of our homemade peach cobbler at 11am on Saturday and proceeded to sell out of everything by 5pm. We also sold a ton of peach cobbler and peaches & cream sno cones!
We could not do this without our amazing customers and your support so…THANK YOU!
Now, we are taking a week’s vacation to rest up!

Thanks to your support with purchases and donations, we officially declare the flower refurbishment project a success!! In fact, it was so successful we sold 80 to 85 percent of what we had available. We took all remaining flowers to Greenwood cemetery and to the small cemetery on 9th street and placed them on as many graves as possible. Our intention was to have flowers on every grave this year, but we sold a lot more than we expected, so we covered as much ground as we could. We concentrated first on the older sections where very few flowers are ever placed. Hopefully as this project continues to grow, we will be able to achieve our goal of flowers on every grave. Just didn’t happen this year.
Thank you Sally Kay and Sara Lang Hallum for donating your time to help us place flowers. We appreciate you and everyone who purchased, donated money, etc.

*Refurbished Memorial Day flowers*
Last year, 2021, Happy Bee Flowers and the City of Porter decided to try something other than trashing the flowers left at the cemetery after Memorial Day. We have cleaned them, added new bows, flowers, etc., and have them available at very reasonable prices. This money will go to the cemetery fund to help keep our cemetery mowed and maintained.
This is a new project for our community and we are hoping this benefits everyone and is successful!
Stop by today and lets raise some money for the Cemetery fund and keep our money in our town. Also, we will personally make sure every single grave in Porter has flowers on them!!!
