Hello Inverness Co-Owners,

Best Way will be collecting the recycling bins for the community at your last February pick up which is scheduled for Friday, February 27, 2026.

You will leave your bins at the curb on that day of service and they will collect them either that day or the day after.

We have not yet heard from Waste Management as to when they will deliver the new recycling bins but it is anticipated to happen prior to March 1, 2026. We are not yet aware if the schedule will change for recycling pick up. For now, you should plan that it will continue bi-weekly on Fridays on the same schedule that you are currently on.

As we have more information, we will make sure to share it with the community but please be aware you may receive information directly from Waste Management as well.

Regarding trash, we have notified Best Way of the waiver so they will not remove their trash bins. In the event wires get crossed, please contact our office if your trash bin is removed in error and we will make sure it is returned.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact our office.

Curbside Recycling Program | Portage, MI 02/09/2026

Hello Inverness Co-Owners,

As previously communicated, the City of Portage has transitioned to a single trash and recycling hauler, Waste Management.

The Association has successfully secured a waiver with the City of Portage allowing us to continue our current trash service through 2028. As a result, there will be no change to trash collection at this time. Trash service will continue with Best Way until 2028, pending the May 2026 vote confirming the City’s authority to implement a single-hauler program.

Recycling service, however, will transition to Waste Management, as recycling is provided by the City of Portage and is included in your property taxes. Waste Management will begin distributing recycling bins throughout the month of February, with recycling service scheduled to start in March 2026. Any questions regarding recycling services should be directed to the City of Portage at the following link:
https://www.portagemi.gov/284/Curbside-Recycling-Program

In summary, you will receive a new recycling bin from Waste Management, while trash service will remain unchanged with Best Way through 2028.

If you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact me directly.
