TCB CLASSICS
TCB Classics is a small press. I design, index, and publish beautiful books for scholars, students, and general readers.
I also make limited editions of artist's books, and rebind books in need of repair. My Alpha and Omega Studio is in early development.
The little German prayer book is done.
I glued the slip case where it had come apart, added bronze paint where cardboard showed for a distressed look (although it might just look messy), and added a washi tape of Japanese silver and gold fans. I thought, why fans? Turns out fans can symbolize blessings.
I added the loose pages to a signature that had come loose and was faced with staples! What to do? Since most of the book was intact, I just kept the staples. Gluing in the signature was simple but I'm not happy about it. I also had to find a facsimile of a missing September plate, which I did. I used a strange paper size to approximate what I needed and trimmed it down. Then I forgot that the edge of the new plate printed on cream card stock would scream 'I'm new!', so I found some ink pads and dabbed 2 colors to sort of match the gilded pages. All in all, it's okay ...
