If you have any former students at Iowa State University that are way interested in the sciences, BI in Ames is looking to hire an intern. I believe this is for right now with the possibility of staying on during summer:

Boehringer Ingelheim Student Intern Lab Technician

The primary responsibility of Student Intern Lab Technicians is to maintain all lab spaces. This position will be focused primarily on stocking supplies in the lab, washing/sterilizing glassware, processing lab waste, as well as making reagents and maintaining/cleaning lab equipment.

Our goal is to hire a highly organized, self-motivated candidate who has approximately 10-20hr/week of availability and has some experience with lab techniques. We are also willing to consider candidates who have less experience, but have strong work ethic and learn quickly.

There may be opportunities for doing project related work on early vaccine research for several viral and bacterial pathogens if candidates are available to stay for 20-40hr/week during the summer.

Please bring a proposed work schedule to the interview. We are asking for 10-20h/week, at least 1.5h/shift (preferably more). Working hours are Mon-Fri between 7am-6pm. Because we are located at the ISU Research Park, avoid scheduling more than 1 shift per day. Allow at least 15-30 min to get here from campus, longer if using CyRide as transportation.

If you know any ISU students in the sciences, please have them send an updated resume to Lillie Johnson at Apex ([email protected]).

National Corn Growers Association - Corn

FYI

The National Corn Growers Association and BASF Corporation announced today that it is now accepting applications for five $1,000 scholarships to be awarded to undergraduate and graduate students pursuing a degree in an agriculture-related field during the 2017-18 school year.

"NCGA members are invested both on the farm and off the farm to build a successful industry based on productivity, stewardship and profitability. However, we must also help to cultivate the next generation of agriculture leaders," said Patty Mann, chairman of NCGA's Grower Services Action Team. "Our partnership with BASF helps ease the financial pressures these students face in pursuing their degree."

Applicants for the NCGA William C. Berg Academic Excellence in Agriculture Scholarship Program must be entering at least their second undergraduate year or any year of graduate study, and they or a parent or legal guardian must be an NCGA member. Scholarship applications must be postmarked on or before December 2, 2016.

Scholarship recipients will be selected in early 2017. Recipients and a parent or guardian will enjoy travel and lodging to attend the 2017 Commodity Classic in San Antonio, Texas to be recognized at the NCGA Banquet and have the opportunity to learn more about modern agriculture.

This is the tenth year for the partnership between BASF and NCGA. The complete rules and application can be found on our website at http://www.ncga.com/scholarships.
