RE/MAX Revolution has made a list of tips that can improve your home’s energy efficiency.
1. Making sure your furnace is running up to par is one of the most important tips going into the fall/winter months while living in the midwest. If an upgrade is needed, luckily for Iowa residents, we are offered rebates on qualifying natural gas furnaces.
2. Smart thermostats can be controlled by you from anywhere using your smartphone. They can automatically adjust to your schedule and preferences. Setting your thermostat for 7-10 degrees lower while you're away and sleeping can help you save on money. There are also rebates available for Iowa residents for qualifying smart thermostat purchase.
3. Adjusting your shades, curtains, drapes, and blinds depending on the weather outside can help lower your heating costs. The sun naturally can provide eat, so open your windows that face toward the south for extra warmth on those cold, sunny days.
4. This should go without saying when the temperatures drop, however we are here to say it - dress in warmer clothes. This can keep us from turning our furnace on too early. In the midwest, we are seeing mornings start out at 40 degrees, while ending with 78 degrees sometimes. Dressing in layers will save us money!
5. It's the best time to update the weatherstripping on the house. Fill in the gaps and cracks to prevent the heat from escaping. We are not trying to warm the outdoors this fall/winter.
We've asked some of our members to share what they like about being a part of our Chamber and why they joined.

He is very passionate about men participating in contraception. For every one man that currently gets a vasectomy in the United States, 3 women get tubal ligation. In places even as close as Canada, there are 2 vasectomies performed for every one tubal ligation performed. During his limited free time, he enjoys traveling around the world performing vasectomies and spending time with his family. One of his favorite local restaurants is La Fiesta in Pleasant Hill.
