We are saddened to hear of the passing of Afro American Music Institute’s Co-Founder, Dr. James T. Johnson, Jr.

For the past 44 years, AAMI, founded by Dr. Johnson and his wife Pamela, has fostered community through music education and cultural legacy, nurturing thousands of students. Dr. Johnson’s impact endures through AAMI’s continued work and through the generations of students impacted by his care and passion.

Services are scheduled at St. James AME Church, Pittsburgh, PA, with a viewing on Friday, March 27 and funeral on Saturday, March 28. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to www.afroamericanmusic.org.
