In honor of Doctor Seuss's newly published book, I thought I'd share a few images from my handmade book, Faux in Socks, made in 2014.

I scanned an old copy of the book, scanned many different types of real fox fur, and painstakingly took all of the cartoon fox fur and replaced it with my real fox fur images. Some images contain a lot of different colors and kinds of fox fur edited together using Photoshop. Then I printed the whole thing, hand bound it in accordion fashion, and covered it in leather. The worst part by far was scanning all the pages in high res--everything else was fun!

The front pages features a cutout of the Fox in Socks with red fox fur underneath, kind of like Pat the Bunny. There is also a little fox claw closure. All the fox fur is old and was found on eBay.

This lovely little romp through images of foxes I created, ones in the wild, and others in popular culture constitutes more than 60 hours of work (and a lot of progress in learning AfterEffects!) for my art animation class.
