found this on ebay. May 2, 1941 edition of the Cut newspaper
Hello all you younger buggy people from Paul Gritt BS-ME 1965. I have an article from the August 1963 edition of Road and Track entitled "The Grand Prix of Pittsburgh" it is a pdf file and I can't figure out how to upload it so you all can see it.

Buggy for people, past and present. Welcome to the official page for the CMU Buggy Alumni Association! Follow us on Twitter! @CMUBuggy

The Carnegie Mellon Buggy Alumni Association was founded in the summer of 2008 after it became clear that there was both a need and an interest in an organization centered around buggy for all members of the buggy world, past and present.

For today's #tbt, we need your help. If you were a member of PhiKap in the late 1970s (or know someone who was), can you let us know if the buggy in this photo is Satori (we apologize for the poor quality)? We know almost nothing about Satori (including if it's even a real buggy), but we have reason to believe this might be it - so if you know, or have any information about Satori, let us know!

As we work to update our database, expect more of these types of posts in the future; we've got a lot of photos of unidentified buggies, and we'll need your help to ID them.

The Season 2 finale of Chute The Sh*t is now available on your favorite podcasting platforms (or linktr.ee/cmubuggy)! In this episode, @willweiner sits down with @cmu_ems_official alumni to learn more about EMS and how they work to support Buggy and keep the competitors safe. And no, they’re not out to steal your Buggy secrets.

TW: brief mentions of animal testing and gun violence.

And even though Season 2 is over, we’re not done! We’ve got some special episodes planned for the future, and if you’ve got ideas for episodes for Season 3, let us know!

Chute The Sh*t - Radioclub: Buggy's Safety Net

This week on Chute The S**t, Will sits down with W3VC - Carnegie Tech Radio Club alumni Katherine Crawford and Benjamin Wasserman, who have plenty of Buggy stories to tell from their 20+ collective years of experience on the course. From brown liquid to pushing Camo, Buggy obstacle courses and the treachery of the timing system, Radio Club has a unique behind-the-scenes look at everything that goes on during Rolls and Raceday and Katherine and Ben share a number of their favorite experiences from the course. Plus, we even learn what amateur radio is (and no, it's not WRCT 88.3FM radio broadcasting). The latest episode is available now at http://linktr.ee/cmubuggy or your favorite podcast platforms.

Join us this weekend, May 1-2, for Mini-Raceday 2021!

COVID may have caused a lot of changes this year, including the cancellation of a full Raceday. But that doesn't mean we can't crown a winner this year! 7 organizations will be competing for the 2021 crown with timed rolls on Saturday (Spirit) and Sunday (Apex, CIA, Fringe, PiKA, SDC, SigEp), and we'll be bringing you all of the action live in the first May Raceday since 1969! Rolls begin at roughly 6:15AM ET on both days (Saturday will be a regular rolls session until 7:45AM), and we'll have live video at http://tinyurl.com/BuggyLive2021 plus some chatting (and maybe additional camera angles???) at http://cmubuggy.org/chat.

Please note that special rules are still in place due to COVID restrictions. Each team will roll individually and will get 2 timed rolls for their Women's teams, followed by 2 timed rolls for their Men's teams. The best time for each will be used to determine the winner of the Women's and Men's races for 2021.

Questions? Let us know in the comments, or join the Discord (http://cmubuggy.org/chat) and we're happy to answer!

🚨THIS IS NOT A DRILL - BUGGY IS BACK!🚨 Sweepstakes has been working for MONTHS on a plan for socially distant, COVID-safe rolls, and that plan has finally been approved, with first rolls set for this weekend (weather permitting)!

Due to COVID restrictions, ALUMNI ARE NOT PERMITTED TO ATTEND ROLLS and student attendance is EXTREMELY limited. Please respect these limitations, as unexpected attendance on the course could result in the cancellation of rolls. Sweepstakes and the BAA are working on ways to provide virtual coverage for students, alumni, and others who won't be able to attend, so stay tuned to cmubuggy.org and the @cmubuggy social media channels (especially the instagram account) for more info.

HUGE shoutout to Tishya Girdhar and her fellow Sweepstakes Committee members Bethany Bauer, Natalie Herrmann and Carl Young for going WAY above and beyond anyone before them and devising a plan to get buggies back on the course in a safe manner! 👏👏👏

We hope everyone enjoyed Season 1 of Chute The S**t. If you haven’t heard the new Buggy podcast with host @willweiner, it’s available on Spotify and all of your favorite podcast platforms. We are gearing up to do another season, and we’re looking for people in the community to speak on some of the episodes. We’re hoping to interview the first female drivers or pushers, BIPOC interested in talking about their experience with race in Buggy, folks to chat about wheel tech (old or new), passionate flaggers, and any other topics that you find interesting. If you fit the bill or know someone that does who might like to be on the podcast, or you’ve got other episode ideas, please reply or DM us. All suggestions welcome!

We hope to see you on the course soon.

2020 mood

07/15/2020

We’re sad to report that the Buggy community recently lost one of our own, Apex driver Joanne Tsai. Joanne was one of the warmest, friendliest, most reliable people any of us have had the pleasure of meeting. In her memory, Apex has organized a virtual bone marrow registry drive. You can participate by texting “CMU” to 61474 or by going to https://join.bethematch.org/CMU. Joanne lives on in all of us, and it’s up to us to make the positive impact in the world that she would want to make.

Which Buggy are you? Agree/Disagree with our alignment? Let us know! And then create/let us know your own alignment chart, based on your org’s buggies (if your org has fewer than 9, you’ll just need to get creative 😏). We’ll share those as well.

The first thing that non-Buggy people learn is that yes, there really is a person inside. This week, on the Season Finale of Chute The Sh*t, we hear from the team that wants to make liars out of us. Will sits down with members of Robobuggy, the first team to ever complete a fully autonomous race. Hear about their multi-year journey, the struggles with trying to make a fully autonomous buggy travel around a tree-filled park, and their plans for turning an already uniquely @carnegiemellon sport into something more quintessentially CMU. Listen now at http://linktr.ee/cmubuggy or your favorite podcast platform.
