We are creative engineers who invent interactive experiences that tell human stories.

Deeplocal is an award-winning creative technology company that creates remarkable interactive experiences for brands. In its infancy, Deeplocal created the internationally acclaimed Nike Chalkbot for the Livestrong Foundation. The Chalkbot was a tweet-fed, chalk-spraying hydraulic robot that traveled the roads of the Tour de France printing messages of hope and inspiration about cancer survival. T

Welcome to Copy Paste, a new series documenting the accidental uniforms of the Deeplocal team.

Our studio is filled with people from completely different walks of life, but when you spend this much time building together every day, the lines start to blur.

It happens often enough that we have a dedicated Slack channel just to capture it. Here is proof that our team is always on the same page.🗒️

We are thrilled to welcome Thomas Ryun to the Deeplocal team as our newest Creative Director!👋

Thomas brings a wealth of design history to our studio—including an early stint as a design intern at MoMA that ignited a lifelong love of art.

Since then, his work has spanned a massive spectrum of mediums, including interactive experiences, media installations, visitor centers, branded environments, exhibits, books, physical products, and digital products.

In his own words:
“I love building experiences in the real world that awaken or illuminate something for people experiencing them.”

Thomas Likes 👍
• Exploring new cities
• James Turrell Skyspaces
• Bike rides

Thomas Dislikes 👎
• Spider webs
• Bad typography
• Things not built to last

Thomas’s passion for creating lasting, meaningful physical-meets-digital work perfectly aligns with how we approach engineering and design.

Welcome to the team, Thomas!

We’re very excited to welcome Jonah Keller, our newest Engineer 1 to the Deeplocal team.🥳

Jonah comes to us as a recent mechanical engineering grad from Case Western Reserve University.

While at CWRU, he was an engineer AND the driver for the Baja SAE offroad racing team. When he wasn’t busy building race cars, he spent his time playing music with his band, Lake Effect.

In his own words:
“I’m extremely excited to begin my journey at Deeplocal, and work at the crossroads of engineering and creative design. Outside of work I love being active outdoors, running, biking and rock climbing.”

Jonah likes👍 : Music, LEGO, and cheese
Jonah dislikes👎 : Slow wifi, stripped screws, & being bored

Welcome to Deeplocal,Jonah. We’re excited to see what you build with us!🛠️

Happy Shark Week! 🦈🌊

We might be 300 miles from the ocean, but at Deeplocal, we’re no strangers to building absolute beasts.

When we watch Shark Week, we aren’t just looking at the Great Whites—we’re geeking out over the tech. The autonomous underwater drones, the bite-force sensor rigs, the mechanical decoys—that’s our love language. It’s the exact same creative engineering we use in our Pittsburgh shop every day to build physical-meets-digital experiences for the world’s biggest brands.

We don’t just conceptualize wild ideas. Our in-house team of engineers, fabricators, and creative technologists actually machines the parts, writes the code, and builds the physical hardware to make them real.

If Discovery ever needs a 20-foot robotic Megalodon that responds to live tweets... they know who to call. 🦾🔧

What’s the craziest piece of ocean tech you’ve seen on Shark Week this year? 👇

Investing in up-and-coming Pittsburgh talent means showing young people that they don’t have to box themselves into a single career path.📦🛣️

Recently, two groups of students from The Neighborhood Academy Summer Program visited Deeplocal. For us, hosting high school and college tours is all about breaking down traditional silos early on.

When you’re young, you’re often told to choose a lane: Are you an artist or an engineer? A coder or a builder? At Deeplocal, we look for the mashups. Our staff is a brilliant mix of experts who mastered traditional disciplines alongside those who took beautifully non-traditional paths—coming together to combine fine arts with robotics, or industrial design with software development—to design and engineer immersive experiences for global clients.👩🏽‍💻🤖🎨

We want the next generation of local creators to know that their multi-disciplinary passions have a massive, world-class stage right here in Pittsburgh. You don’t have to leave the city to build the future of creative technology.🖤💛

Thank you to The Neighborhood Academy for stopping by! If you lead a high school or university aged group that loves to blur the lines between art and technology, we’d love to host you.🫵

Look mom, we won a Clio! 🏆🌮💥

Fast food, faster edits. Here’s a hyper-speed BTS look at the chaos, the craft, and the crunch that went into our experiential build for Taco Bell

Taking home a Clio Award for this one hits different, but big ideas take a massive village. HUGE shoutout to our incredible partners at Biite for helping us bring this wild vision to life.

When tech, design, and tacos collide, magic happens. ✨

Any visit to Google is an invitation to experience their spaces in a participatory way. For Google Public Sector, this means getting into the mindset of service from the moment you walk in.

We worked together with their team to create an interactive welcome moment inspired by the tradition of challenge coins, or tokens that symbolize a shared mission.

The experience in Google Reston invites visitors to translate their reflections on service into unique badges. A tactile wall of coins sets the tone. From there, guests have a guided conversation with Gemini to create their own circular badge design, printable as a sticker. They can also explore the growing library of badges created by others to get a sense of the collective values of fellow guests.

Big thanks to Google’s Brand Experience team for the opportunity.

What will the office of the future look (and sound, and feel, and smell) like?

In “20 Years Later: Google’s Next Workplace Revolution” Google, Deeplocal, and Gumband will reveal the approach to creating playful, inclusive workplaces – that you’ll actually want to commute to – through the power of creative technology and experience design.

Don't miss Blair Neal's talk on August 5th! More info below.👇

Often in our work we enjoy a rush of excitement when we push the envelope on a design and solve a range of challenges to realize a vision. However this comes with the inevitable lows of hitting technology walls or the boundaries of time and budget. How do we set client expectations to take a journey of risk with us while delivering on a contract? How do we support our team to meet the job requirements while letting them explore their creative potential?

In this session, Luca De Laurentiis, Soren West of SOREN WEST, and Blair Neal of Deeplocal will discuss the highs and lows of trailblazing with new creative technologies. Join us in person at XR Studios or online for this exciting discussion sharing their knowledge and experience.
