Want your client comfortable enough during their Brazilian wax that they can actually laugh at your stupid jokes? 😂 Here are a few things that help:

1. Find a wax pattern that becomes second nature.

The more comfortable you are with your process, the more you can relax and focus on your client and the conversation instead of mentally thinking, “Okay what strip am I laying next?”

2. BREATH WORK.

Have your client take a deep breath in and give you a hard exhale when you’re ready to pull the strip. It gives them a job and something to focus on besides the pain! After a while, you’ll notice your regulars doing it automatically without you even having to tell them 🫶🏻

3. Be funny. 🤷🏻‍♀️😂

Jk but your client’s already vulnerable enough being half-naked in front of you. If they feel comfortable laughing, chatting, and being themselves, the whole service feels a lot less intimidating!!

And of course, read the room! Some clients want jokes and girl talk, while others prefer a calm, clinical experience - adapt to what makes them comfortable! 🫶🏻

How do we tell him that your wax girl knows everything about him except his social security number…? 🫣

But seriously, over the past 10 years I’ve developed such great relationships with so many clients. I love you all, and I’m happy to share in life’s biggest moments- cheering for you from my wax room always 🫶🏻

My favorite tip that I always tell my trainees is: ✨When you don’t know what to talk about, narrate what you’re doing✨

It makes the entire appointment feel smoother, and it helps in so many ways:

✨ It reassures your client because they know what’s happening and see you as the expert.

✨ It fills those awkward moments of silence without feeling forced.

✨ It helps your technique become second nature because you’re intentionally thinking through each step.

✨ It naturally opens the door to client education and retail.

For example:

“I’m going to go ahead and apply this strip now. I love using this wax because…”

Or…

“I’m just taking a look at how your skin is responding to the wax. Your skin looks a little dry, so…”

Suddenly you’ve transitioned into talking about your wax, aftercare, skincare, or home products without it feeling like a sales pitch.

Clients leave feeling informed, and you feel more confident. Win-win. 💛

The “cringey” content you almost didn’t post… might be the exact reason someone feels comfortable booking with you!!!

They see you laughing, they see your personality, and they see that you don’t take yourself too seriously!

And maybe, without even realizing it, they think, “Okay… I don’t have to be perfect either”

That’s the kind of content I want to make!

If I could give a TED Talk on one thing, it would be this: clear and open communication is one of the biggest reasons a wax feels comfortable.

When your client knows you’ve got them, knows exactly what to expect, and knows when you’re about to pull the strip, they stop anticipating the worst. Instead, they can work with you - breathing, staying relaxed, and feeling in control throughout the service.

And that changes everything.
