Thinking about trying out a martial arts class? What should you consider first?
1) What are you interested in doing?
- Sport/competing in tournaments?
- self-defense
- fitness
- new hobby
Look for a school that offers and focuses on what you’re interested in.
2) Is the instructor(s) qualified?
- Does the instructor have legitimate certifications for what they are teaching? Look them up/research them!
- Is the martial arts legitimate or a made up style? Look it up/research it!
- Does the instructor still have a master that they still train under?
- Does the instructor’s uniform look make them look like a NASCAR driver with too many patches?
- Is the instructor way too young to have earned all the black belts they claim to have?
Look for a qualified instructor. Do some research, ask around and look at reviews from others that have actually trained there.
Here at Pine Forest Martial Arts, we are open, honest and up front with what we teach and what qualifications and certifications we have. Feel free to research us, ask others that train here or have trained here, and look at our reviews.
You get what you put into something, even from the very beginning.
