What an honor.
I recently had the privilege of joining a distinguished group of top Alzheimer's expert physician-researchers in China and I left truly inspired.
The smart systems being built there for Alzheimer's early detection are remarkable: seamlessly integrating digital cognitive assessments and blood biomarkers with rapid triage to appropriate care and resources across the country. Precision. Scalability. Compassion built into the infrastructure.
It was a powerful reminder that when brilliant minds come together with a shared mission, patients win.
I'm also deeply grateful for the opportunity to share the BrainLove model of care (mybrainlove.com) , our whole-person, physician-led approach to Alzheimer's and cognitive aging that replaces fragmented care with clarity, strategy, and partnership.
And yes, the hospitality was extraordinary. The soup dumplings? Life-changing. 🥟
To my new colleagues and friends across China, thank you. The work you are doing matters enormously, and I am so glad our paths have crossed.

This message stopped me in my tracks.
"Dr. Cabral is truly exceptional. She personally called me twice before my appointment to better understand my situation and concerns, something I have never experienced with any other doctor."
I've built BrainLove around a simple belief: people navigating brain aging deserve to feel *heard* before they even walk through the door.
Not rushed. Not reduced to a chart number. Heard.
This patient said the experience felt "completely different from the typical American medical experience in the best possible way."
That's exactly what we're building at BrainLove.
If someone you love is experiencing memory or thinking changes, or if you're a care partner who has felt dismissed and unseen you deserve better than the rushed, fragmented standard of care.
Let's talk. 👇

In this powerful conversation, I had the opportunity to speak with Bob Ehlers about resilience, innovation, aging, and legacy.
Bob shares his journey from corporate executive and startup founder to becoming an advocate for individuals living with neurocognitive conditions. Through his nonprofit, Conexo Casa, he is helping older adults and individuals with cognitive impairments stay connected, supported, and empowered through technology.
What stood out most in this conversation was Bob’s perspective:
A diagnosis may change your path, but it does not erase your purpose.
We discussed:
- Living with early onset Alzheimer’s
- The future of smart technology in aging care
- Advocacy and work with the Alzheimer’s Association
- Perpetual importance of music
- Creating impact and legacy at every stage of life
This episode is an important reminder that aging, cognitive health, and innovation deserve more open conversations and more compassion.

I wrote this Op-Ed to put words to something families have known for a long time. Alzheimer’s is not just a neurological condition. It’s a relational one.
We don’t have billing codes for “helped a family stay connected” or “supported a care partner through grief”, yet those are often the interventions that matter most.
Until care reflects that, we will keep falling short.
Do you think our healthcare system can effectively integrate the care partner/family? And how? We would love to hear your innovative ideas!

“The reality is that Alzheimer’s starts in midlife… we can significantly slow down when it will ever start, if we take action as early as possible.”
The science is moving. The gap is in how early and how seriously we take brain health in everyday care.
Excited to be quoted in The Arizona Republic alongside Bob Ehlers and the Alzheimer’s Association Desert Southwest chapter.

Building a resilient decade starts with this one shift.
Dr. Esra Shermadou shares the essential mindset shift for building a resilient brain and body over the next decade.
Motivation is unreliable. Resilience is built on your "Why." Commit to just 15 minutes today. Listen to your body, but show up for your future self.
