I had hoped to add horns to Lady Marmalade today. I normally use trumpet and sax players who live in Italy. Instead, I'm going to use midi to record them myself. I purchased some special orchestral plug-ins (sampled instruments) but I can't find the flash drive they are stored on. Frustrating!

Online recording collaboration step 1. I've recorded all the keyboard parts. Piano, organ, & clavinet. I use midi so I can record and then fix mistakes. Sometimes I learn the parts by ear, but for this song I had sheet music. I use a click track (i.e. a metronome at 116 bpm.) I also imported the actual drum part from the recording. The tempo is not steady on the recording so I had to do lots of editing to make it a constant 116 beats per minute.) Click on the photo below to hear the results so far.

I have not posted much recently since I've been setting up a new studio in my new house. I'm starting to work on a recording of Lady Marmalade by Labelle. I can post my progress if anyone is interested in how online recording collaboration works. I hope to collaborate on this song with musicians from Colorado, Minnesota, Florida, & Italy. Possibly others.
