Pure, uncut 1985. Produced by Ed Buller (Suede, Pulp, Psychedelic Furs). BASIC ELEMENTS is the greatest ‘80s band you’ve never heard of. Written in the ‘80s.

But for those who grew up in Phoenix, Arizona between 1984 and 1990 with a penchant for New Wave music and Aquanet… they were legends.
. Produced by Ed Buller (Suede, Pulp, Psychedelic Furs) the band isn’t some throwback act – they’re an actual ‘80s band. A cross between Simple Minds and Tears for Fears, Basic Elements made a name for themselves in the unheralded ‘80s Arizona music scene playing

Congratulations to our pal who is celebrating Transmission’s 25 year anniversary tonight at the legendary First Avenue nightclub. We wish we could be there in person to celebrate you, your dedication to keeping new wave alive, and to thank you for your support of Basic Elements. Forgive the manifestation photo, but we hope that one day we will play together. I know it hasn’t been an easy year, so we are sending all our love to you, the city of Minneapolis, your family, the late, great and lovable Harry, and to all the incredible Manatees in attendance tonight. Party like it’s 1985! Cheers 🥂 🎶 👨🏼‍🎤

Great article about the legendary club we played most of our shows at alongside Gentlemen AfterDark, Caterwaul & Purr Machine, DITCHe, and Undertow • We also fondly remember watching RHCP play an early show there while they were tripping on L*D. Thank you for the opportunity and memories Franco

Archival Phoenix Finds • That’s the Sugarcubes in a hotel ballroom on Valentine’s Day, the Eddie Murphy “Raw” tour, U2 + lots and lots of Duran Duran, Police, Thompson Twins, the OG Keith Haring “Pop Shop,” a jewel encrusted lion pin I used to wear on stage, and a cassette tape that might be some unheard Basic Elements •

November 16th, 2019 • It’s not that it was 5 years ago. It’s how much s**t has gone down since then. I’m not the same man. We’re not the same band. Nothing will ever be the same, but when have things ever failed to change? If you were there that night, we love you. If you’re still around, thank you — and if you’ve recently found us — welcome and thank you. It’s been a wild ride and it doesn’t look like it’s slowing down, so protect your heart, Hide from your leader and long live the new wavers •
