Since launching my CapCut Editing Course 2 months ago, we’ve had a solid 10 Stan Store purchases (and don’t get me wrong, I’m grateful for every single one of them!)

Over the span of 12 months, I had +5k people on the waitlist to get notified when it came out

Every week I’d get another creator asking me when it would come out

And I’d just have to keep telling them “idk but I’m working on it!!”

Fast forward July 2025 it was 18 days before my wedding and 25 days before I was about to take a 4 week honeymoon… I knew I couldnt delay not finishing the course any longer

Q4 was coming and I needed to make sure yall had resources to support you while I was gone!!

And I can’t lie to you - when you spend 12 months creating something everyone was asking you for, just to get 5 purchases on the day you release it bc you were too stressed to plan a launch strategy - it can feel disheartening

Especially when creators with less experience go massively viral launching a much less robust resource than yours

But despite all of that, I’m proud of what I created and I won’t stop talking about it!!

I KNOW it’s been invaluable for the few people who did grab it, and that is already so validating 🥹

So even though there’s no launch strategy, fake urgency call out, or flash sale - I still hope this reaches the right people who need it!

sometimes… the problem is you

but one factor that I know has NEVER held me back from landing dream brand deals is how many followers I do (or in this case don’t) have

it’s one of the things I truly love the most about being a UGC creator bc your success is directly correlated with your skill

aka how often you make content and how much intention you put into making it a little better everytime you do it

editing is one of those things I’ve learned that can REALLY set apart how brands perceive creators

and after studying from all the content these big influencers were posting - I realized although I could probably never replicate the number of their following…

I most DEFINITELY can learn how to make content of the same caliber

And to my surprise, the same brands that were reaching out to those big creators started reaching out to lil old me too…

and while premium editing is not *everything* it does play a huge part in making sure you land better paying brand deals

I get it… 😭

I know this doesn’t even sound like a real problem, so while I understand this may not be relatable to everyone, I know that this is the case for many self-employed people.

And it sounds ridiculous because the reason why I became my own boss in the first place was to have more flexibility and freedom in my schedule

During these last three months where I was in a season of life where I wanted to be fully present for, my top priority was to work very little or not at all

Then July hit. I got married, left for my honeymoon…two weeks in the Azores, two weeks in Iceland, and while the hours in which I was actually only dropped significantly compared to what it’s usually at, I was never *fully* unplugged for more than 2-3 days at a time.

It really felt like I had one eye in, one eye out so transparently, this is really something I am actively trying to work towards being better at

What I learned is that letting go isn’t a switch, it’s a muscle. And it doesn’t get strong just because you finally have “permission” to rest. You have to train it, on purpose, even when your business isn’t 100% ready for you to step away.

If you’re reading this, I really hope you take the time to truly give yourself a break.

Taking breaks is a skill, and is one we can all get better at ♥️

Canvas UGC vs Traditional UGC (Which one is better?)

With the rise of AI tools and tech companies who are taking advantage of the power of social media + content creators, there’s been an increasing dilution of well paying deals floating around in the UGC industry so let’s talk about both

CANVAS UGC is typically structured as

😭15-30 videos created per month posted on a dedicated TT or IG account that you make and run on behalf of the brand
🤔Videos can be super easy and since these are startups with lower budget, they care more about quantity over quality and are more willing to hire beginner creators with less experience
😭Payment structure is either a small base pay per video ($30-50/vid) plus bonuses for higher views up to +$2-3k
Some brand’s Canvas UGC programs are so decked out that they already have viral frameworks you can replicate & spam on your account over and over again so going viral can be easy

While this model can great for creators who are good yappers, chronically online, and/or can pump out brainrot content like a machine…

The reality is not as easy as it sounds

😭views and payment are never guaranteed
😭you have to create content at a higher volume which means you’ll have less bandwidth to take on partnerships with a different pay model
😭it’s easy to prioritize these clients if they’re the only clients you have or are used to having, which means it’ll be much harder to mentally force yourself to say no to Canvas UGC deals and make room for traditional UGC down the line

While Canvas UGC is not a bad starting place for BEGINNER creators who are learning to create content and developing a natural on-camera presence.

Tech brands will prey on beginner creators to exploit them and receive a high volume of cheap content while baiting them with a “trial” or “potential long term partnership”

Canvas UGC has been used interchangably with “Tech UGC” WRONGLY by coaches who are promoting tjis model…

Because while Canvas UGC is most commonly used by tech/AI companies, that doesn’t mean the only tech UGC campaigns you can land have to be for Canvas.
