You know your mindset is changing when you find yourself sitting on the couch, tired, and you go and do a 10 minute walk anyway.

The Farmer’s Carry has become one of my favorite exercises because it builds real-world strength.

When I first started, I could only carry 8-pound dumbbells. Over time, by staying consistent and gradually increasing the weight, I’ve worked my way up to 26-pound dumbbells. It didn’t happen overnight, and that’s exactly the point.

You don’t have to start where someone else is. Start where you are.

Choose a weight that feels mildly challenging, stand tall with your shoulders back, and walk for 30–60 seconds. As you get stronger, slowly increase the weight. Those small improvements really add up.

This simple exercise strengthens your grip, core, shoulders, traps, arms, and legs while improving your posture. Plus, it helps make everyday tasks—like carrying groceries or lifting bags—feel easier.

Progress isn’t about being perfect. It’s about getting a little stronger than you were yesterday.

What weight would you start with?

How does your body build muscle? 💪

A lot of people think muscle is built while you’re exercising. It isn’t.

Your workout is simply the signal. The real magic happens afterward.

When you challenge your muscles with resistance exercises, you create tiny amounts of stress in the muscle fibers. As your body recovers, it repairs those fibers and makes them a little stronger than before. Repeat that process consistently, and over time you’ll build strength and muscle.

To give your body the best chance to grow stronger, focus on:
✅ Challenging your muscles regularly
✅ Eating enough protein
✅ Fueling your body with healthy foods
✅ Getting enough sleep and recovery
✅ Staying consistent, even when progress feels slow

Remember, you don’t have to lift heavy weights or spend hours in the gym. Simple exercises done consistently can make a big difference.

Every workout is an investment in a stronger future. Keep showing up—your body is adapting even when you can’t see the changes yet.

Can you walk for 5 minutes more than you planned today?

Do you have an accountability partner? I personally don’t want the opinion of another human. I know it helps a lot of people to have another human hold them accountable, but for me, I’d rather have the nonhuman ones who can’t talk back.

💙 August 4 Check-In! 💙

Here’s something to think about…

Your body is listening to everything you do.

Every walk tells your heart to get stronger.
Every strength exercise tells your muscles they’re still needed.
Every healthy meal tells your body it’s worth taking care of.

You may not notice dramatic changes from one day to the next, but your body is adapting every single time you choose movement.

That’s why consistency beats intensity.

You don’t have to do everything.
You just have to keep showing up.

Today’s Check-In:

🚶 Did you get your walk in today?

💪 What strength exercise did you complete?

🌟 What’s one thing your body can do today that it couldn’t do a few months ago?

❤️ What healthy choice are you most proud of today?

Whether you’re on Day 4 or Day 1, you belong here. This challenge is designed so you can start any day, because it’s never too late to invest in your health.

Now let’s celebrate each other! Share your check-in below, then leave an encouraging comment for someone else. Sometimes the support of this community is exactly what keeps a person going.

💙 One healthy choice.

Can’t do a regular push-up yet? Start with negative pushes! 💪

Negative pushes are one of the best ways to build the strength you need for a full push-up. Instead of pushing back up, you focus on the lowering portion of the movement, building strength in your chest, shoulders, arms, and core.

Start with just a few quality reps. The goal isn’t to do a lot right away—it’s to slowly increase the number of reps you can do over time. As your strength improves, you’ll be surprised at how quickly your body adapts.

Remember, sore muscles are normal when you’re starting something new. Give your body time to recover before doing another hard session. Recovery is when your muscles rebuild and get stronger.

If floor negative pushes are still too difficult, that’s perfectly okay! Start with counter push-ups or wall push-ups instead. As those become easier, move to a lower surface and eventually progress to floor negatives.

Every strong push-up starts somewhere. Stay consistent, be patient with yourself, and celebrate every rep—you’re getting stronger with each one! ❤️

If you are trying to decide how many reps or how much weight or how long to walk, ask yourself if you feel challenged. You want to feel challenged to get stronger.

This simple exercise can change the way you move every day. 💙

Sit-to-stands may not look exciting, but they’re one of the best exercises for building strength, improving balance, and maintaining your independence as you age.

Every repetition helps strengthen the muscles you use to:
✅ Get out of a chair
✅ Get out of your car
✅ Climb stairs
✅ Stay steady on your feet
✅ Keep doing the things you love

The best part? You don’t have to be perfect to get started. Use a sturdy chair, move at your own pace, and focus on standing up and sitting down with control. Small improvements add up over time.

If you’re over 50 and only have time for a few exercises each week, this should be one of them.

Have you tried sit-to-stands before? If so, how many can you do with good form? Let us know in the comments! ⬇️💪
