The anonymous artists behind The Secret Handshake, the guerrilla public art statue of President Donald Trump and convicted s*x offender Jeffrey Epstein, are at it again. On Tuesday, the group emailed ARTnews with photos of a new statue placed in Washington, D.C., again depicting Trump and Epstein.

Titled KING OF THE WORLD, the 12-foot tall statue depicts the US president embracing Epstein in the now iconic pose of Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet in the 1997 film Titanic. A plaque below the statue makes the connection explicit, reading: “The tragic love story between Jack and Rose was built on luxurious travel, raucous parties, and secret n**e sketches. This monument honors the bond between Donald Trump and Jeffrey Epstein, a friendship seemingly built on luxurious travel, raucous parties, and secret n**e sketches.”

we lost Johnny Legend

JANUARY 2ND: Sid Terror's Haunted Film Vault remembers and celebrates the life and career of Actor, Director, Writer, Producer, Rockabilly Rasputin and one of my oldest friends JOHNNY LEGEND.

Where do I start with this guy? Probably in the beginning when I first met him Thanksgiving Weekend 1974 at an Equicon / Filmcon Horror Movie convention out near the L.A. airport. I actually met him and Eric Cadin at the same time. I don't remember who talked to who first, but both of them were amazed that at my tender age not only did I know who H.G.Lewis was (remember, this was 1974 in the wilderness years before a new crop of Horror fans re-discovered him), but I could keep right up with both of them with my other movie and music knowledge too. This was also years before Eric would open Hollywood Book & Poster Company, the only place he sold was either at conventions, on a blanket out in the outdoor market on Venice Beach, or mail-order from his father's address on Roxbury in Beverly Hills. Eric and Johnny had known each other since the 1960's hanging out in the rock and roll clubs on The Sunset Strip and Johnny always assisted him at these conventions. We three were friends from the day we met.

Johnny grew up out in San Fernando, where he was neighbors with Tor Johnson... So yeah. the house that you see in PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE was on the same street Johnny grew up. The fact that I would be Ed Wood's neighbor when I moved to Hollywood made Johnny and I part of the same exclusive club in a weird way.

I would work with Johnny on a lot of different things over the years, from some of the music concert shows, to some of the wrestling shows (I appeared as several different masked wrestlers on them, from Aranya Psychadelico to being the first Aztec Mummy in one of the Sleazemania releases on Rhino Video). All the way up to my doing some voice talent work on some of his later Legend House releases and some other films he made. I even showed up via some stock parade footage he'd shot years before, then edited into scenes of one of his very adult (P**n) releases. I knew and spent time with his sister Lynne (who used to go out with Andy Kaufman in the day and is depicted in the Jim Carrey movie about Andy called MAN IN THE MOON (1999).

Besides his music releases (on Rollin' Rock Records and other labels) and his own movie and video releases, Johnny was in a bunch of films. BRIDE OF RE-ANIMATOR (1990), PRISON SHIP (1986), TEENAGE CRUISERS (1977), CHILDREN OF THE CORN 3 (1995), 2001 MANIACS (2005), and tons more. He even shows up in the RAMONES video for the song "Substitute" (something I was also supposed to be in, but I was on tour with my own band at the time it was filmed).

The last time I think I may have seen Johnny Legend (outside of a movie convention we may have hung out at, they all tend to blend together) was at Eric Cadin's memorial service. Talk about full circle, huh? Jewel Shepard, Glenn Danzig, Ivy (from The Cramps), Howie Pyro, Sid Haig and tons of people from our extended circle were there. Somewhere online there are photos (taken by Jewel Shepard) of Johnny, myself, and Carl Crew (star of BLOOD DINER and owner of The California Institute of Abnormal Arts) all together. I am now the only one still alive that was in that photo.

Jeez.

Good-bye, Johnny Legend. It was good knowing you for more than half a century. We had a time.
