This 4th of July, I’m reminded that true patriotism means standing up for our democracy and the American people. Not just waving a flag, but protecting the freedoms and rights it represents.

That means fighting for voting rights, reproductive freedom, affordable health care, and economic justice. Democracy is not a spectator sport — it’s something we build, protect, and renew together.

Wishing you and your loved ones a safe and happy Independence Day! 🇺🇸

After careful consideration and deep reflection over this past weekend, I have decided that I will not seek re-election to the United States House of Representatives.

It has been the honor and privilege of a lifetime to serve the people of Philadelphia, first in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives and now in Congress. I will forever be grateful to the residents of this great city for the trust they placed in me.

While I may not be a candidate next year, I am by no means stepping away from the fight. I intend to spend the months ahead focused on increasing voter turnout in Philadelphia. Our voices matter, and our votes are our power. I will work tirelessly to ensure more people in our city engage with and participate in the political process.

I will also do everything I can to help Democrats take back the majority in the House of Representatives. That means supporting candidates here in Pennsylvania and in key districts across the country. We have an opportunity—and a responsibility—to win back the gavel and deliver for working families.

Finally, I want to say this to my fellow elected officials: We must do a better job of listening—truly listening—to the people we represent. The challenges our constituents face are real, and they deserve leaders who are present, responsive, and willing to act boldly on their behalf.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve. I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished together, and I look forward to continuing to serve in new ways in the months and years ahead.

Senator Mitch McConnell reportedly told his Republican colleagues that Americans would just "get over it" when it comes to devastating cuts to Medicaid.

Millions of seniors, children, people with disabilities, and working families rely on Medicaid for life-saving care.

You don’t "get over" losing your health care.

You don’t "get over" being forced to choose between medicine and rent.

This is about people’s lives, and I won’t be silent while out-of-touch politicians like Mitch McConnell play games with their health and dignity. I’ll always fight to protect Medicaid and the people it serves.

The Supreme Court just sided against patients’ rights.

Today’s decision means Planned Parenthood cannot sue to stop South Carolina from defunding care for Medicaid patients — stripping thousands of people of their right to choose their own qualified health care provider for services like cancer screenings, birth control, and STI testing.

While the ruling directly impacts South Carolina, it sends a dangerous message to other states looking to play politics with people’s health. I stand with Planned Parenthood and every American fighting for the right to access the care they need, from the provider they trust.

Health care is a human right — and I’ll never stop fighting for it.

Juneteenth honors the generations who fought to get us here and challenges us to keep going.

The United States was built on the labor and sacrifice of enslaved Black men, women, and children, and this history cannot be separated from the progress we fight for today.

I had the privilege of standing beside leaders and elders a few years ago when Juneteenth became a federal holiday. That memory stays with me, and so does the responsibility to keep pushing for a country that delivers on the promise of liberty and justice for all.

Mike Lee silent when questioned about Minnesota shootings post 06/18/2025

Today is International Day for Countering Hate Speech. Sadly, I'm reminded of just how urgently this work is needed.

Over the weekend, Minnesota State Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband were senselessly murdered, and State Senator John Hoffman and his wife were fighting for their lives.

In the aftermath, instead of offering condolences or showing compassion to those affected, Senator Mike Lee from Utah chose to use his platform to push out hate and misinformation. At a time when hateful rhetoric is becoming routine, words like his are dangerous.

As elected officials, we are supposed to lead with decency — or at the very least, humanity. Senator Lee failed both.

Hate doesn’t begin with outright violence. It begins with the kind of disregard for human life that we saw in Lee’s posts. When leaders treat tragedy as an opportunity to score political points, they send the message that hate is acceptable. It’s on us to stand up for what’s right and condemn those actions.

Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers, grandfathers, uncles, and father figures in our lives!

Today we celebrate the men who lead with love, teach with patience, and help guide our families and communities forward. Let’s take a moment to honor and thank the dads who show love, speak up, and lift up others — today and every day.

On Flag Day, we recognize a powerful symbol of our nation’s unity, our shared values, and our ongoing pursuit of liberty and justice for all. The American flag waves for all of us — no matter our background, beliefs, or zip code.

It’s a reminder of both our history and our hope for a better, more inclusive future. As we celebrate Flag Day, let’s recommit to building a nation that truly lives up to the ideals represented by the Stars and Stripes.

🌍 Today is World Environment Day — a reminder that we all share one planet, and the responsibility to protect it.

From tackling plastic pollution to investing in clean energy, there are steps we can take together to safeguard our air, water, and land for our children and grandchildren.

In Congress, I will continue to support bold climate action and environmental justice proudly — because every community deserves clean air and a healthy environment. Let’s keep working together toward a greener, more sustainable future! 🌱

Earlier this week, I proudly stood in solidarity with UFCW workers at their rally here in Philly! 💪🏾

The Philadelphia delegation showed up strong to support the hardworking folks who keep our communities running — stocking our shelves, feeding our families, and demanding the dignity they deserve.

I’ll always support the fight for fair wages, safe working conditions, and the right to organize. ✊🏾
📸 Proud to be joined by colleagues and friends in the labor movement.
