I know most people have seen this video by now, and I have mixed feelings. Being from Philadelphia and growing up in the ‘80s, this is how most coaches looked and sounded—very Bobby Knight-esque, if not worse at times.
I remember a coach during my hoop dreams era who made me tear up, but in a strange way, I needed that push. Back then—25, 30 years ago—this kind of coaching was more common and accepted. But in today’s world, where conduct is under a massive microscope, is this kind of behavior now considered too inappropriate?
