Inspired by Hocus Pocus, I have chosen to use my treasured cicada wing paper for the creation of BOOOK, which is named for its resemblance to the thin wings of cicadas, though it is not derived from actual insect wings. This remarkable paper is made possible by the chemical compound alum and boasts an extraordinary thinness, making it an excellent choice for various artistic techniques involving fine liners. Additionally, it features a remarkable skin texture and appearance, which makes it ideal for this project. For your reference, I have included an image of BOOK from HOCUS POCUS. As I move forward with this project, I plan to incorporate three or four signatures into my version of the book, and I will determine the contents of the interior pages once the exterior design is complete, as each book has its own unique personality and requires a tailored approach. Cicada wing paper is truly a game-changer for artists!

Day 11 (a day late) prompt was STAMP IT OUT so I decided I wanted to create some handmade papers for some upcoming junk journals I’m working on and we’ll here’s the outcome!!

Prepping for today’s junk journal January prompt I’m late starting because I had to create some yesterday to dry for today then had to find my stamps which led to cleaning and rearranging the new studio space and yeah lol so here I am about to stamp it out in my handmade papers I did last night!!
