Dutch Umbrella
Pass it on! It's all about sharing. We're not active "today", but plan to start back up "tomorrow". Follow us for updates in the future.
Dutch Umbrella started as an idea to provide a service to the public and eco-friendly mobile advertising to businesses. We offer our Dutch Umbrellas to stranded travelers via restaurants, shops, and cafes in Philadelphia. That idea has grown to include a dining guide "Eat Drink and Be Philly!" along with a growing presence in the social media world.

Sorry folks, no one was ever supposed to pay for a DU.
We knew it was going to happen since we gave away 2-3k DUs, but didn't expect to see them at a business! More likely at flea markets or someones sidewalk sale. This is Stanley's on Ridge Ave.
The inventory we had left was given away in the last month.
Some are going to flea markets, some are being given out in retirement communities, some...who knows.
If you get the opportunity to use one over the months ahead, let us know where you were and how you happened upon it.
Then share the umbrella with someone who needs one some day.
The more we share, the more we have!

I got a kick out of this series. I remember the show. Each of the artist did a panel on one umbrella and I never got my hands on it.
Boo hoo. I would have loved to have that piece!
HAHA Magazine: Dutch Umbrella Episode 1 HAHA Magazine asked Philly’s Dutch Umbrella Share Program if they would turn over some of their classic white umbrellas to four local artists and have them…
Always remember: The more we share, the more we have.
So sad to finally come to terms that Dutch Umbrella in Philadelphia is most likely not coming back. 😢
My partner passed away last year. It was the summer a year ago that we were talking about how to bring it back and make this work post-Covid and for the future.
This was Joseph Carlson's baby. His idea from the beginning. I was just the workhorse. Now that he's not here, it's too much for me to do alone. Or is it?
Dreaming wistfully about getting Dutch Umbrellas out there again.
We have 3,000 of them in storage, so I don't see why not. 😊

We didn't make it to 250 BUT we did make it over 200! We did get into this at the last minute, so that's a lot of votes for a couple of days.
Thank-you to everyone who voted for us. And congratulations to those that now go on to step 2. We wish you the best!
Fingers crossed that a Philly business brings some of that $$ to our fair city. A grant to a small business means jobs for others.
I was moved by the diversity of small businesses out there. This really has been an amazing experience. Small business really is the backbone of our Nation!
Dutch Umbrella is still going to be around Philly...just not as quickly or as wide spread as a grant would have allowed.
We'll see you singing in the rain with a Dutch Umbrella soon!
Well we didn't make it to 250. But we did get over 200!
That's a lot of support in 48 hours. Thank you all for giving it a go.
Dutch Umbrella is still going to be in Philly. Just not as much or as quickly as the grant would have helped with.
So we'll see you singing in the rain with a Dutch Umbrella soon!
Have a wonderful July 4th!
