Hip Hop Fish & Chicken is officially in Philly 👀 and them catfish nuggets are what would bring me back. The sides didn’t really stand out for me, and I’d order the wings a little lighter next time, but that catfish and fries combo definitely hit.

I’m doing a series with my youth teaching them different cuisines from around the world. For our first stop, we headed to Italy 🇮🇹, making Chicken Parm + Rigatoni in a Blush Sauce. Beyond dinner, it’s about introducing them to new cuisines, building real kitchen skills, and giving them the confidence to create something themselves.

Pull up to Von’s Chicken and tried a few different items including the classic fried, honey butter, and yang-nyum. That chicken stayed crispy even with the sauce. The kimchi fried rice was another standout, savory, funky, and packed with flavor. The dumplings were solid, but the chicken and fried rice are what I’d go back for.

I finally made it to Jordan Johnson Seafood. Their oversized buttermilk-fried fish hoagie came stacked with crispy, well-seasoned whiting, and I definitely understand why people keep putting it in the conversation.

Sunrise Social just earned a spot in my brunch rotation. They have a nice menu and everything was enjoyable. The apple pie French toast was my favorite, ate like dessert, and the collard greens had its own gravy-style twist that made them stand out.

Mama Mia’s on Bustleton is bringing Asian and Italian flavors together in a way you don’t see at your typical neighborhood pizza shop. 🍕🍗

I tried a few things, but the fried chicken was easily the highlight extra crispy and they’ve got plenty of homemade sauces to switch up the flavor. Definitely one of those spots where the menu goes way beyond what you’d expect.

Some of my favorite wings lately came from a Chinatown happy hour. 👀

I tried almost the entire happy hour menu at Jiang Nan, but the salt-and-pepper wings were the clear standout. Crispy, juicy, and seasoned all the way through. The spicy wontons and fried rice were right behind them, and the drinks were solid too.

Definitely a happy hour worth checking out.
