Where Do All the Broken Parts Go?

Do they drift like dust,
settling in the corners of memory?
Do they sink deeper,
where no one can see them?
Or do they live
in the distance
between who we were
and who we are now?
They do not disappear.
They change what feels steady.
They change what we trust.
Some pieces mend.
Some stay tender.
Perhaps they do not leave at all.
Perhaps they move quietly
through what holds
and what loosens.
Suspended between what was
and what remains,
they wait
not to be fixed
but to be carried
differently.
