Providing emergency winter shelter and support for our unhoused neighbors in Upper Bucks County.

Our Upper Bucks Code Blue Sheltering Ministry, officially opened Dec. 1, 2013 after three years of development, provides warm shelter, food, and respectful overnight care for homeless people in Upper Bucks County during times of life-threatening cold weather (26 degrees Fahrenheit or below temps or wind chill). We partner with churches and other volunteer agencies and individuals in the Quakertown, Pennridge, and Palisades school districts to provide this ministry.

Greetings, everyone! Here’s our call for April 13-15, 2026:

With partly sunny to partly cloudy skies Monday through Wednesday, highs in the low 80s, and lows in the upper 50s to 60° projected for all three days, this call is a cinch: Our Code Blue Winter Emergency Shelter on the first floor of the Quakertown Masonic Lodge (501 W. Broad Street in Quakertown) will be CLOSED Monday through Wednesday nights, Apr. 13-15.

Our 2025-2026 Code Blue sheltering season ends April 15. We’re so thankful for the many volunteers and supporters who’ve enabled us to provide this sheltering ministry during the months of winter’s life-threatening cold. If you’re in need of overnight shelter after April 15, we can direct you to partners in ministry who may be able to give you some short-term shelter options.

Greetings, everyone! Here’s our call for April 9-12, 2026:

After our rainy Easter and cooler start to Easter Week, we’ll see a significant moderation in our temperatures beginning Thursday, with high temperatures closer to seasonal average highs near 60° and lows Thursday in the mid-30s. Our temperatures then get even warmer to end the week, with highs in the upper 60s through the weekend and lows ranging from the upper 30s Saturday night to the upper 40s and possibly 50° Friday night. And blessedly, we’re not likely to see any precipitation through the weekend…

So our Code Blue Winter Emergency Shelter on the first floor of the Quakertown Masonic Lodge (501 W. Broad Street in Quakertown) will be CLOSED Thursday through Sunday nights, Apr. 9-12.

If you have any questions about the ministries of Advocates for the Homeless of Upper Bucks, please contact Pr Dave Heckler @ 570.470.0716. And if you’d like to donate items to our shelter, please call 267.772.9593. Thanks!

Greetings, everyone! Here’s our call for April 6-8, 2026:

In the wake of Sunday’s cloudy, rainy Easter, our new week will begin in a temperature trough. Our skies Monday and Wednesday will be mostly sunny, but highs both days won’t get past 55 degrees, and lows will be in the upper 30s Monday and lower 30s Wednesday. But Tuesday will be a bit cloudier and cooler, with a high temperature barely sniffing 50 degrees and lows right at our 26° Code Blue threshold, accompanied by bracing winds. (Tuesday’s our reminder that Upper Bucks Code Blue’s sheltering season isn’t over yet…)

So our Code Blue Winter Emergency Shelter on the first floor of the Quakertown Masonic Lodge (501 W. Broad Street in Quakertown) will be CLOSED Monday and Wednesday nights, Apr. 6 and 8, but OPEN Tuesday night, April 7, with our doors open from 8:30-11:00 PM.

If you have any questions about the ministries of Advocates for the Homeless of Upper Bucks, please contact Pr Dave Heckler @ 570.470.0716. And if you’d like to donate items to our shelter, please call 267.772.9593. Thanks!

Greetings, everyone! Here’s our call for April 2-5, 2026:

Weatherwise, our Easter/Passover weekend will seem all too familiar: The good news is that after a somewhat cooler Thursday, it’ll get progressively warmer Friday and Saturday, with highs in the upper 70s and lows in the upper 50s to low 60s both days. (Sunday will top off in the upper 60s as well…) The bad news is that several storm fronts will roll through our region, bringing us scattered morning showers Thursday, Friday, and Sunday and scattered afternoon showers Saturday. Nevertheless, our low temperatures throughout the period won’t get anywhere near “Code Blue cold”. So our Code Blue Winter Emergency Shelter on the first floor of the Quakertown Masonic Lodge (501 W. Broad Street in Quakertown) will be CLOSED Thursday through Sunday nights, Mar. Apr. 2-5.

If you have any questions about the ministries of Advocates for the Homeless of Upper Bucks, please contact Pr Dave Heckler @ 570.470.0716. And if you’d like to donate items to our shelter, please call 267.772.9593. Thanks!

Greetings, everyone! Here’s our call for March 30-April 1, 2026:

The good news for the first part of the week is that our temperatures will rise significantly, with daytime temps rising to the lower 60s Monday and the mid 70s Tuesday and Wednesday, and lows not getting down to 40° before Wednesday night (Monday’s and Tuesday’s lows will be around 50° and 60° respectively). The bad news is that we’ll see showers Monday night into Tuesday morning, then again Wednesday afternoon and continuing off and on through Easter Sunday. It’ll get cooler Thursday and Friday, but nowhere near “Code Blue cold”…

In the meantime, our Code Blue Winter Emergency Shelter on the first floor of the Quakertown Masonic Lodge (501 W. Broad Street in Quakertown) will be CLOSED Monday through Wednesday nights, Mar. 30-Apr. 1.

If you have any questions about the ministries of Advocates for the Homeless of Upper Bucks, please contact Pr Dave Heckler @ 570.470.0716. And if you’d like to donate items to our shelter, please call 267.772.9593. Thanks!

Greetings, everyone! Here’s our call for March 27-29, 2026:

After Thursday night’s and Friday morning’s rain, our weekend will be clearer but decidedly cooler. While Friday’s and Sunday’s highs will be in the 50s, Saturday’s high won’t even reach the mid-40s, and low temperatures Friday and Saturday night will be right on the boundary of our Code Blue threshold, and strong winds will drive wind chills both nights into the low 20s. Sunday night will be solidly above freezing, with calmer skies; but Friday and Saturday nights will be cold enough to bring folks in.

So our Code Blue Winter Emergency Shelter on the first floor of the Quakertown Masonic Lodge (501 W. Broad Street in Quakertown) will be OPEN Friday and Saturday nights, Mar. 27-28, with our doors open from 8:30-11:00 PM, but CLOSED Sunday night, Mar. 29.

If you have any questions about the ministries of Advocates for the Homeless of Upper Bucks, please contact Pr Dave Heckler @ 570.470.0716. And if you’d like to donate items to our shelter, please call 267.772.9593. Thanks!

Greetings, everyone! Here’s our call for March 25-26, 2026:

We’ll be seeing a warming trend this Wednesday and Thursday, with cloudy skies Wednesday giving way to partly sunny skies Thursday and high temperatures rising from the mid-50s Wednesday to the upper 60s and perhaps even 70° on Thursday. Our low temperatures won’t get below 40° either night— but Thursday will be quite windy, and Thursday night into Friday morning will see some rain as well. Our weekend will be clearer but decidedly cooler; we’ll make our weekend Code Blue call as we get a little closer (and our data becomes clearer)…

In the meantime, our Code Blue Winter Emergency Shelter on the first floor of the Quakertown Masonic Lodge (501 W. Broad Street in Quakertown) will be CLOSED Wednesday and Thursday nights, Mar. 25-26.

If you have any questions about the ministries of Advocates for the Homeless of Upper Bucks, please contact Pr Dave Heckler @ 570.470.0716. And if you’d like to donate items to our shelter, please call 267.772.9593. Thanks!

Greetings, everyone! Here’s our call for March 23-24, 2026:

We probably won’t have too many more open nights left in our 2025-2026 Code Blue sheltering season, but we’ll probably have a few “borderline” nights before we’re done— and Monday night will be one of them. Sunday’s clouds and showers should give way to clearing skies Monday, with highs around 50°; but it’ll be quite windy as well, with wind gusts getting to 30 mph during the day and easily 20 mph at night, driving the wind chill down significantly. Tuesday will be sunny and a good deal calmer, with highs around 48° and lows right at freezing— not quite Code Blue cold. But given Monday’s winds and low nighttime wind chills (around 20°), we’ll lean toward being open Monday.

So our Code Blue Winter Emergency Shelter on the first floor of the Quakertown Masonic Lodge (501 W. Broad Street in Quakertown) will be OPEN Monday night, Mar. 23, with our doors open from 8:30-11:00 PM, but CLOSED Tuesday night, Mar. 24.

If you have any questions about the ministries of Advocates for the Homeless of Upper Bucks, please contact Pr Dave Heckler @ 570.470.0716. And if you’d like to donate items to our shelter, please call 267.772.9593. Thanks!

Greetings, everyone! Here’s our call for March 20-22, 2026:

As we consider this weekend’s weather, there’s good news and bad news: The good news is that our temperatures will warm considerably, with highs moving from the mid-50s Friday to the mid-60s Sunday and lows in the low-to-mid 40s Friday and Saturday night. (Sunday night will be a bit cooler, possibly as cold as 32 degrees, but still nowhere near our Code Blue threshold…) The bad news is that it’s going to be pretty cloudy and damp all weekend, with rain likely Friday night into Saturday and spotty showers popping up throughout the weekend.

So our Code Blue Winter Emergency Shelter on the first floor of the Quakertown Masonic Lodge (501 W. Broad Street in Quakertown) will be CLOSED Friday through Sunday nights, Mar. 20-22.

If you have any questions about the ministries of Advocates for the Homeless of Upper Bucks, please contact Pr Dave Heckler @ 570.470.0716. And if you’d like to donate items to our shelter, please call 267.772.9593. Thanks!

Greetings, everyone! Here’s our call for March 18-19, 2026:

Wednesday‘s skies will be a little clearer and a lot calmer, with daytime temperatures in the upper 30s, but nighttime temperatures will be right at our Code Blue threshold. Thursday’s skies will be a little brighter, with highs approaching 50° and lows right around freezing under calm skies— just a bit too warm for Code Blue.

So our Code Blue Winter Emergency Shelter on the first floor of the Quakertown Masonic Lodge (501 W. Broad Street in Quakertown) will be OPEN Wednesday night, Mar. 18, with our doors open from 8:30-11:00 PM, but CLOSED Thursday night, Mar. 19.

Greetings, everyone! Here’s our call for March 16-17, 2026:

Monday will be a warm day— our high will get into the mid-60s by dinnertime— but it’ll also be a rainy (~0.75”) and windy day, and we’re likely to see thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening. Once the sun goes down, our temperatures will drop like a brick from an airplane, with still very strong winds driving wind chills into the low teens. Tuesday’s high will barely get above freezing, with Tuesday’s low around 20° (so leprechauns will certainly freeze). Wednesday‘s skies will be clearer and calmer, and daytime temperatures could get to the upper 30s, but nighttime temperatures will be right around our Code Blue threshold. We’ll make a more certain call for Wednesday in another day or two; but in the meantime, our Code Blue Winter Emergency Shelter on the first floor of the Quakertown Masonic Lodge (501 W. Broad Street in Quakertown) will be OPEN Monday and Tuesday nights, Mar. 16-17, with our doors open from 8:30-11:00 PM.

Greetings, everyone! Here’s our call for March 12-15, 2026:

After a beautiful summer-like beginning of the week, a cold front will cross our region late Wednesday into Thursday morning, bringing us showers and perhaps even thunderstorms. In the wake of that front, it turns notably cooler Thursday afternoon, with nighttime temperatures falling into the mid-20s. (We may even see snow flurries Thursday night.) Temperatures will return to our seasonal average Friday and Saturday, with highs near 50° and lows in the low-to-mid 30s; then we’ll watch for scattered showers ahead of a cold front late Sunday. Sunday’s temperatures won’t vary much— our highs will be around 52° and lows around 44°-- but here’s a “heads-up” for next week: Our temperatures are projected to plummet during the day Monday, leaving us with seriously wintry temperatures Monday through Wednesday nights, likely in solid Code Blue territory. Stay tuned…

In the meantime, our Code Blue Winter Emergency Shelter on the first floor of the Quakertown Masonic Lodge (501 W. Broad Street in Quakertown) will be OPEN Thursday night, Mar. 12, with our doors open from 8:30-11:00 PM, but CLOSED Friday through Sunday nights, Mar. 13-15.

If you have any questions about the ministries of Advocates for the Homeless of Upper Bucks, please contact Pr Dave Heckler @ 570.470.0716. And if you’d like to donate items to our shelter, please call 267.772.9593. Thanks!
