Lorrie, who has been serving Clarifi clients for nearly 30 years, was featured in PHFA's February counselor spotlight.

For decades, she has been a steady force guiding hundreds of individuals and families from financial hardship toward stability, confidence, and lasting change. Her deep knowledge of both client service and housing counseling makes her one of Clarifi’s most trusted and experienced counselors.

“My training period was during the housing crisis,” Lorrie recalls. “That experience shaped everything about how I counsel today—meeting people where they are, no matter their circumstances.”

As Michael endured dialysis for four hours a day, three days a week, he was determined.

Determined to stay healthy so he could receive a kidney transplant and keep living for himself and his family.

“For seven years, I did everything my doctors asked me to do,” the Philadelphian said. “That level of commitment paid off, because I was able to get a transplant.”

It’s the same level of commitment Michael said he applied to buying his forever home with his wife, Michelle last year.

Since buying her Southwest Philly rowhome more than 30 years ago, Maria has battled water.

The flooding worsened over time, and in the last three years, water poured into her basement every time it rained.

Maria, 68, would rush downstairs to manually drain the water out with a hose and pool pump, but that didn't fix the hole in her basement or the mold growing on the walls.

As a working senior, Maria was stuck between not qualifying for free, low-income home repair programs and struggling to afford costly plumbing repairs.

“I felt like I was in a dark hole,” Maria said.
