Call for Artists – Dollar Stroll Dollar Store

This summer, the University City District will sponsor several “Dollar Stroll” nights along Baltimore Ave. A Dollar stroll is an event along Baltimore Ave. where local businesses offer their items for $1. Products such as spring rolls, ice cream samples, small drinks, etc. are all offered as a way to promote the business and bring people out on a summer night.
HomeSkooled Gallery would like to set up a “Dollar Store” along Baltimore Ave on the night of the Dollar Stroll on August 16th. Our Dollar Store will be outfitted with a large sign and decorations and will offer creative wares for $1. We will be offering creative services for $1, such as face paint, temporary tattoos, and decorative water balloons. We would also like to invite artists to sell very small products for $1 at this event as well – patches, buttons, small photos, postcards, etc – anything handmade you feel comfortable selling for $1. All profits for your creative products will be yours to keep.
To participate, please send a paragraph description of your creative product and if possible, a photograph of your work. We will participate in Dollar Stroll on August 16th, so you would need your creative products dropped off by August 10th. In addition to creating your $1 store product, we also ask that you come out for a build night to construct the Dollar Store. That would entail creating decorations, a sign, or anything else that looks eccentrically crafty. Once we hear of your interest in participating, we will send you some dates to schedule a Build Night.

Please submit your description of your $1 product and photograph by July 25th, 2012.
