October is Fire Prevention Month.
A few simple steps can help keep your home and family safer:
• Test your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors regularly
• Replace batteries when needed
• Keep heating sources and electrical cords clear of clutter
• Make sure everyone in the home knows the fire escape plan
• Never ignore warning signs like damaged wiring or overloaded outlets
Fire safety starts with prevention. When it comes to your home, knowing what’s working - and what needs attention - matters.

Inspections are once again becoming an important part of the real estate process.
For buyers, a home inspection is an opportunity to better understand the condition of the home beyond what you can see with your own eyes. For sellers, being prepared for an inspection can help keep surprises from slowing down the transaction.
At Musselman Home Inspection, we believe an inspection is about more than finding problems, it’s about understanding the home, identifying safety concerns, and helping buyers make informed decisions.
Buying or selling? Be prepared. Inspections are back.

What’s happening beneath your yard?
If your home is connected to a public sewer, you may not realize that the sewer line running from your home to the street is typically your responsibility.
That’s why a sewer lateral inspection, also called a Sewer Lateral Scan, can be so important. During the inspection, a camera is inserted into the sewer line to check the condition of the pipes and look for potential problems such as:
👉 Blockages
👉 Cracks
👉 Root intrusion
👉 Damage or deterioration
👉 Other defects that could lead to costly repairs
A sewer line problem isn’t always visible from inside your home. A camera inspection can help identify issues before they become a much bigger surprise.
Musselman Home Inspection is here to help you know what’s happening beneath the surface.

SEPTIC SYSTEM TIP: DON’T WAIT FOR A PROBLEM
If your home has a septic system, regular inspections are an important part of protecting your home and your investment.
A good rule of thumb is to have your septic system inspected at least every three years. Regular inspections can help identify potential problems before they turn into costly repairs or system failure.
Musselman Home Inspection is here to help you know what’s going on beneath the surface.

Mold is one of those things you don’t want to discover in your home, but knowing what to look for can help you catch moisture problems before they become bigger issues.
Mold spores are naturally present in the air and throughout our environment. The good news? Mold needs moisture to grow. That means one of the best ways to help prevent mold in your home is to stay on top of moisture and water problems before they turn into something bigger.
This month, take a few minutes to look around your home. Check those areas where moisture tends to hide:
