A project to help make the Delaware Canal State Park Towpath more walkable in Borough of Morrisville PA has begun.

Currently, the bridge that carries Bridge Street over the canal cuts off the towpath and there is fencing on one side, forcing those trying to walk, jog or bike the towpath to go further down Bridge Street before crossing the road and re-entering the towpath.

The project will install ramps and a crosswalk to help those looking to continue past Bridge Street.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) said to expect periodic lane closures through November.

The plans and drawings below are from 2019, which are generally the same as the 2023 plans. There have been slight changes to the type of stansions used to install the ramps onto that will be buried in the towpath (now a concrete wall that the ramp sits on), but otherwise their trajectory is basically the same.
