Our season begins as it always does - slowly, intentionally, and in restorative connection with each other and the land that we steward.

Our gardens and collaboration with our partner schools are at the heart of our work. We tend our gardens with the children by our sides. We teach them to breathe in and breathe out; that expessing gratitude is the least we can do for all that the earth provides. We dig our hands deep deep deep into the earth, turning it and turning it, over and over and over. Nourishing it, planting in it. The children learn and grow. We grow and are restored. Our gardens are restored and grow.

This is our practice and our ethos - in our gardens, our ecosystems and for ourselves:

Breathe in. Breathe out.
Be grateful.
Dig in.
Dig deep; turn it over and over and over.
Nourish deeply.
Tend, grow, prune.
Repeat as needed.
Be restored.

What grows here we will harvest to share within our schools and their families, then out into our community thru our markets on our farmstand.

So grateful for such a beautiful start this season. Im excited to share everything with you in the garden soon soon soon. ✨🌱

Poppin back on to the timeline today to recognize a very special young lady. Please help me lift up and celebrate our TAMYRA BOO on her birthday! 🥳🎊😘♥️

From 2nd grade to her 2nd year in college, Tamyra has literally been by my side, growing and glowing with me and Get Fresh Daily. You may know Tamyra AKA Tamyra Tomato from our farmstand, but she’s actually been part of GFD pretty much since the beginning. From being a part of all of our school wellness programs, she became a natural leader of our School Wellness Councils and Camps through middle school; Senior Camp Counselor through high school, and today she’s Assistant Director of our camps and Marketstand Coordinator at our markets.

She’s beautiful and brilliant inside and out; so smart, sassy and spunky; creative, consistent, reliable and has a can-do-anything spirit that makes her stand out from the rest. In a nutshell, she’s 👏🏾that 👏🏾girl 👏🏾

So grateful to be a part of this dynamic human’s life and honored to watch her bloom into the incredible young woman she has become.

Love you Tamyra Boo; I’m so grateful for you and proud of you! Wishing you your hearts desire today and always!!

If you’ve been enjoying the figs, persimmon, cucumelons, heirloom tomatoes, jujubees, paw paws, berries, the gorgeous arrays of herbs and pretty much anything else cool and different on our farmstand this season, you likely have the Philadelphia Orchard Project to thank. Some of the most generous group of humans I know with the biggest hearts and obviously amazing growers. They have partnered and supported and lifted up GFD and our markets from day 1 and I am so grateful!
