One of the questions I get asked most is…
“Is cursive still worth teaching?”

For me, the answer has always been yes.
But I also believe children deserve a better experience than endless handwriting drills.

That’s why I combined cursive with something children naturally love…

Learning amazing facts about God’s incredible creation.

One of the greatest compliments I can receive isn’t…
“My child’s handwriting improved.”

It’s hearing a parent say…
“We had the best conversation because of one poem.”

That’s exactly what I hoped this workbook would become.

Not just another assignment.

A starting place for curiosity.
For conversation.
For wonder.

Because those are the lessons children often carry with them long after the school day ends.

One of the best ways to help children love learning…

Is to make them genuinely curious.

That’s why every lesson in Animal Kingdom begins with something amazing.

And leave with stronger handwriting, better reading fluency, and new vocabulary.

That’s my favorite kind of learning.

When my children are adults…
I probably won’t remember every lesson we completed.
I won’t remember every worksheet.
But I hope they’ll remember that learning felt exciting.
That books were treasures.
That poetry sparked conversations.
That handwriting became something beautiful instead of something to rush through.
That’s the homeschool I wanted to create.
And that’s the heart behind Historical Poetry.'

When I first started creating these books, I wasn’t thinking about building a business.

I was thinking about the children I’d taught.
The homeschool families I’d met.

The parents who wanted to help but didn’t know where to start.

I wanted to create something that made learning feel joyful, confidence-building, and simple enough for any family to use.

Every order still means the world to me because behind every package is a child whose confidence we’re hoping to grow.

Not just to teach reading…
But to help children believe in themselves again.

People sometimes ask me why I still care so much about handwriting.
The answer isn’t because I think everything should stay the way it used to be.

It’s because handwriting gives us something that’s becoming increasingly rare…
A chance to slow down.
To notice.
To reflect.
To create something with our own hands.

That’s one of the reasons Historical Poetry means so much to me.
