Help us build homes, communities, and hope!
Founded in 1981, Pensacola Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit, ecumenical, Christian ministry whose purpose is to improve communities through sustainable partnerships, such as through their home buying opportunities. Housing and local economic issues are important focuses for the organization, especially with families of modest to moderate income in Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties. Having built

Over the weekend we had another incredible group of women come out to make the final touches of the frame on our Women Build 2023 home. Not only did they get the job done - they got it done in style πͺ π π¨ππ½ββοΈππ π»

Raising our hard hats to the best in the business during Construction Worker Appreciation Week! π‘ πͺ They are the solid foundation of our organization, turning dreams into reality one home at a time! You dream it, they build it β that's the power of our amazing construction crew! π οΈβ¨ Help us give them a big THANK YOU!

Day 4 of Women Build 2023 was a true testament to teamwork and community spirit! π πͺ Thanks to our incredible team sponsor, Florida Power & Light, employees from across the state joined us on the build site yesterday. Rachel's family also came to lend a hand in building her new home, and together, we achieved a major milestone - the roof has been raised! ππ¨

Are those sirens we hear π¨?
Nope, it's just the Krewe of SWAT Build Sisters dropping in for Day 3 of Women Build! Our Team of the Decade worked hard today on Rachel's home, and we're so thankful for the nearly $100,000 that they have raised in their time as Women Builders.
There's a number on that check but we know SWAT is still fundraising; join them in helping us push for our goal at womenbuild.pensacolahabitat.org.

We're excited to announce that not only have we maintained our 4-star rating on Charity Navigator, but we've also recently upgraded from a gold to a platinum transparency rating on GuideStar!
These ratings are a testament to our commitment to transparency, accountability, and fiscal responsibility. They provide valuable insights to our stakeholders, including donors, partners, and the public, and demonstrate our organizationβs exceptional financial health, accountability, and transparency and assures donors that their contributions are being used effectively and efficiently.

Day βοΈ of Women Build is done!
These impressive women from Gulf Winds Credit Union worked hard on the site today, in addition to their generous $10,000 contribution made to this year's Women Build campaign! Thank you Gulf Winds for your amazing support of what we do - we hope you had a good time trading in ledger sheets for hammers.
Women Build fundraising is still going on - head to womenbuild.pensacolahabitat.org to help us reach our $150,000 goal!

One month ago today on August 20, 2023, Hurricane Idalia made landfall as a Category 3 hurricane near Keaton Beach, FL in the Big Bend. Immediately after the storm, Habitat for Humanity of Florida, Inc. was able to make contact with affiliates in the region, and although there was minor damage to the affiliate office in Lake City, there was NO damage to any Habitat for Humanity homes! This is a testament to the quality and stability of homes built by Habitat affiliates across the state and beyond, and we are so proud to be part of a network that builds safe, affordable homes that will last for generations to come!

Today was the day! ππ₯³π·ββοΈ
We kicked off Women Build with a special groundbreaking this morning with our Home Buyer Rachel. Several Women Builders who've gotten to know Rachel shared some words and then we finally started building, with this year's top fundraising team, S.P.O.R.T.S. Builders, getting the site started.
Stay tuned for more pics from each build day and remember that fundraising for Women Build isn't finished! You can help us hit our $150,000 goal at womenbuild.pensacolahabitat.org!

All we have to say is Gulf Coast Panorama never disappoints π€©
Check out some more snapshots from our Women Build Celebration last week, and stay tuned to our social media for more to come as we get set to start building Rachel's home tomorrow morning!

Our construction crew was honored at a recent Escambia County Board of County Commissioners meeting! We were truly touched by the efforts, words and actions of Escambia County leadership recognizing our efforts to bring affordable homeownership to our community. This proclamation now hangs proudly in our construction office!
π¨ At the Sept. 7 Board of County Commissioners meeting, District 3 Commissioner and Chairman Lumon May presented a proclamation to Pensacola Habitat for Humanity to recognize Sept. 18-22 as "National Construction Appreciation Week." The week was created to celebrate the dedicated and hardworking men and women in the construction industry who are instrumental in developing our infrastructure.
π·ββοΈ The impact of the construction industry extends far beyond the boundaries of a job site, as it contributes to more effective transportation, manufacturing, and commerce. The industry is fundamental for our way of life, from essential transportation infrastructure to key medical, educational, residential and commercial buildings.
π‘ Since 1981, Pensacola Habitat for Humanity has built over 1,600 homes in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties, while also providing our local communities with a variety of programs and services to break down the barriers of homeownership. Pensacola Habitat for Humanity is one of the largest in the country based on community impact. In FY 2023, the organization built 45 new homes and served 40 homeowners by completing critical home repairs, home rehabilitation, and neighborhood revitalization projects. They are projected to build 50 homes in FY 2024, all while impacting over 100 families in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties.

Happy National Construction Appreciation Week!
By the time this has posted, our hardworking crew has been on the clock for several hours, putting in hard work building the homes that have helped over 1,600 individuals and families since 1981. We *literally* couldn't do it without them, and we want to celebrate them all week long!
If you've ever volunteered with us, please feel free to share a story or an interaction you had with one of our construction crew, we'd love them to see how appreciated they are!

This beautiful trophy awarded to Krewe of SWAT Build Sisters as our Women Build Team of the Decade was part of a collaboration with UWF Sea3D. We wanted to highlight the wonderful students who 3D-printed this trophy as part of a school project and donated it to us. Thanks for the great work!

We had a great time celebrating our Women Builders last night and the over $128,000 they've raised so far this year for our 10th Annual Women Build! The Women Build Celebration is one of our staff's favorite events, and this year's was no exception. We recognized some of the top individual and team fundraisers, including this year's top team, S.P.O.R.T.S. Builders, and our top fundraising team of the decade, Krewe of SWAT Build Sisters. Stay tuned for more great pictures of this night of celebration and joy!

Fall is almost here, so it's time for a refresh of our Montclair Elementary School pocket garden! This collaboration between our Community Development Program and Picked at Perfection Urban Farm helps teach kids about gardening and responsibility - all while encouraging healthy habits. The kids will water, harvest, and cook up these carrots, beets, kale, radishes, and flowers. The kiddos went crazy for the zucchini and cucumbers last spring and parents called and asked how the school got the kids to eat them! Here's to a plentiful harvest this fall!

In case you havenβt driven by yet, weβre FIRED UP for our 10th Annual Women Build!

Like many of you, we spent yesterday reflecting on the tragedy of the 9/11 terror attacks and honoring the innocent lives lost. Last night, we saw this picture of a rainbow piercing the cloudy skies of New York City, shared by Gary Hershorn on X, and were awestruck by its majesty. Itβs proof that even on the darkest of days, there can still be something good to bring us hope.
Life is precious, so we plan to spend time this week honoring the fallen by working to make our community a better place. We encourage everyone to do the same in your communities and to take some time to reflect on how you can make a positive impact on the world around you.

Check out this great article from Pensacola News Journal on the recent USDA decision to keep Milton and Pace classified as rural and what that means for our Home Buyers in that area!
Big thanks to our fellow community stakeholders who joined forces with us to make this happen, including Michelle Salzman, Santa Rosa County, Florida Power & Light, University Lending Group and others!
π successfully appealed the U.S. Department of Agriculture's decision to reclassify much of Milton and Pace as non-rural, ensuring that homebuyers in the area are still able to qualify for USDA loans under their housing programs.
To qualify, applicants must meet the low-income requirements for their area, live in an eligible rural area and demonstrate a willingness and ability to repay the debt.
Those who've used the program say it's been a life-changer.
π£ "I can't really afford the current market and Habitat is a great program that helped me get my home," said Lindy Ducker, a new homeowner thanks to the assistance of Habitat. "It all turned out really well and I love my house."
CivicCon has had several affordable housing speakers over the years, most recently Shane Phillips in 2022, who advocated for programs like Habitat. View his presentation on pnj.com/civiccon/
