Don’t forget tonight is Late Night Breakfast!

The UWF Police Department has received reports of a gift card scam.

Scammers contact individuals requesting they purchase and pay them with gift cards.

Scammers use a variety of different scenarios to convince you to purchase and pay them with a gift card, such as posing as an government official demanding payment of a fine, posing as tech support requesting payment for a fabricated issue with you computer, posing as a friend, family member or someone you know in authority (supervisor or boss) with an emergency, advising you have won a prize but must pay a fee or other charges with the gift card, posing as an official from a utility company threatening to cut off service if you don't pay them immediately with a gift card or sending a fake check for the victim to cash requesting a portion of the funds on a gift card.

There are three common practices no matter what scenario the scammer uses:

The scammer states the matter is urgent.
The scammer usually tells you which gift card to purchase.
The scammer asks you for the gift card number and PIN.

Returning Residents who submit a Housing Contract for Fall 2021/Spring 2022 by March 14th qualify for a FREE Parking Permit for the year or a $145 credit on their rent. UWF.edu/Housing

Earn up to $300 off your Fall 2021 Rent!!! For a limited time, Housing is offering current residents who submit a completed contract for the Fall 2021/Spring 2022 academic year a $100 credit on their Fall 2021 rent for referring a new or prior resident to on campus housing for up to 3 referrals.

In order to receive the credit, your referral must submit a completed contract and live on campus for Fall 2021.  

Housing will also issue a $100 rent credit to the referred resident. This program does not apply to newly admitted First Time in College (FTIC)/Freshmen students.  You may only refer current UWF students or Transfer students.

We are excited to announce that the University of West Florida has partnered with Apogee ResNet to provide blazing fast internet to our residents! We are also excited to tell you Apogee has been able to fast track the project and make the switch over Spring Break. We know things are moving fast, but we just couldn’t wait to make this new service available to our residents.

People can speak openly and authentically - there’s no ranting, no rhetoric. Just honest opinions and deep-seeded beliefs. The project provides a chance for people to engage across party lines, and most importantly, to actively listen to their fellow citizens.

This project is a community engagement campaign aimed at bridging political divides and breaking down partisanship. For people who are tired of hyper-partisanship, pull a chair up to The Table!

Bring It to The Table is produced by Talking Eyes Media, a non-partisan, non-profit organization with extensive experience producing media on pressing social issues. On February 3rd, 2020, from 9:00-10:30pm, we will be showing the 45-minute documentary in the UC Auditorium, followed by an in-person Q&A session with the filmmaker Julie Winokur!
