The Pirate family mourns the loss of one of the original Pirates, Frank Slusser. A graduate of FSU who threw the first no-hitter in FSU history, Frank enjoyed a semi-pro career before landing in Pensacola serving as an assistant baseball coach at PJC under Buddy Kisner and eventually serving as the head baseball coach at Pensacola High. Frank touched many lives and will forever be remembered for the impact he had on youth and baseball in Pensacola.

Help us congratulate our DI Baseball Pitcher of the Week... Josiah Glodfelter from Pensacola State College Athletics! Josiah is a freshmen right-handed pitcher from Pensacola, Florida! He threw 2-0, 1.50 ERA in two appearances and picked up a pair of complete-game victories against Tallahassee, helping the Pirates overtake the Eagles for the final berth to the FCSAA Tournament! In the penultimate game of the season, struck out 14 (no walks) in a seven-inning complete-game! In 12 total innings, he allowed only nine hits and two runs while walking just one and striking out 21! Congratulations, Josiah!

A freshman right-hand pitcher from Smiths Station, Alabama, Javi went 1-0, 0.00 ERA in one appearance this week. He tossed a seven-inning, one-hit shutout in the Pirates' 4-0 win vs. Delgado and walked one and struck out nine this week. Great work this week, Javi! Keep it up!

UWF Announces Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2022 - University of West Florida Athletics PENSACOLA, Fla. – The UWF athletics department will welcome three Argonaut legends and a national championship team into the Class of 2022 Athletics Hall of Fame next month.

Our PSC Athletic family is deeply saddened by the tragic loss of one of our very own, Ms. Carla Williams. Carla was the definition of loyal. Her time at PSC (then PJC) started as a player on the women’s basketball team where she received All-Conference and All-Region recognitions both years, she wore the Pirates jersey. After attending Florida State University, Carla made her way back to Pensacola where she spent time as a basketball coach in the same gymnasium where she once played. In her more than 24 years employed at PSC Carla worked in the Collegiate High, Mathematics, and Computer Science Department, but she remained connected to Athletics as a tutor for the student-athletes and continued to work basketball games as a table official. A Pirate through and through.

“Carla had such a positive impact on every life she touched, her selfless devotion, dedication and love for PSC was unmatched,” Athletic Director Bryan Lewallyn.

If you would like to help us honor Carla Williams, we could not think of a better way than through the gift of education. We have set up a link to raise funds for a memorial scholarship in her memory.

We are back with POTW! Congratulations to the FCSAA Baseball Player of the Week... Darrien McDowell from Pensacola State College Athletics!

As a freshman 1B from Pensacola, Darrien batted .600 (9-for-15) with six runs scored, two home runs, and six RBI in four games. He hit safely and scored in each game, including three multi-hit games to end the week. Darrien capped his week by going 4-for-4 with three runs scored, a homer, and two RBI vs. Gulf Coast State. Unreal! Congrats, Darrien.
