UWF Softball is off to a 14-2 start, most of which have been away games. Finally got a chance to see and photograph them yesterday at home. Another win. Oh, this is gonna be a fun season!

Before the game, they also got their rings from last season’s championship. 6th photo.

Hopping on the 2016 trend because it was a pretty cool photography year. My favorite selfie of all time, Vegas and Hoover Dam, Argos first football season, Rubio rally (what ever happened to tha guy?), and some super fun music photography #2016

The first time I photographed Hangout Fest was 2013. I went in 2012 as a paying customer and took some point-and-shoot pics but 2013 was my first official. Tom Petty, Public Enemy, Kendrick Lamar, Macklemore, Kings of Leon, Warren Haynes, Imagine Dragons, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Hayes Carll (who I just photographed again at Vinyl)

Plus MTV was still involved so Sway and Chrissy Teigen were there.

I photographed it 12 times and I’m pretty bummed next year is canceled. They say 2027 but I have doubts. We’ll see. It’s not what it used to be but I still loved it

“A good photograph is knowing where to stand” - Ansel Adams.

Today at The University of West Florida Field House. Basketball season is in full swing and I couldn’t be happier. It’s too much to explain here how much this sport meant to the younger me. Truly my first love.

So last game’s post-game locker room celebration included an elbow drop and a splash party but former UWF athletics photographer gave me a hard time because she said I wasn’t close enough. Now, I still maintain that you can be too close to the action to capture the action but… challenge accepted 🙂 💦 We win. There’s water. Let’s get in there

Busy sports weekend at The University of Western Florida and oh my, the gods of light and shadow were good to me. 🙂 Cross Country and Swim & Dive meets on Friday and Argo football moved to 3-0 on Saturday.

Just to be clear, athletics photography is not my main gig at . They have their own very talented photo and video team. See and . I shoot for University Marketing which is more the University as a whole but since sports ball is part of that whole, I get to go out and play sometimes.

UWF Soccer wins their season opener 3-1 over Flagler

Yesterday was a relatively busy photography day. Four headshots, an Auxiliary Fair, and an artist talk at the opening of an exhibition at the College of Fine and Performing Arts. But it was also the season opener for and I looked outside and saw the beautiful day you see in that first shot so I worked in a few fútbol photos. This team is fun to watch!

A few from game one of the 2025 UWF Football season. Taking down da’ Bears 48-21

That 6th shot is me on television sent to me by Emily during the game and the 7th and 8th are what I was pointing at at the time 🙂

Couple in there of #2 and Mr Stokes had himself a day!

On The Subject of Nudes

I’ve decided to change my photographic focus a bit. I’m going to experiment with some new areas. Expand my horizons. The first expansion will involve shooting n**es. Very tasteful. Very artistic. There’s a long and respected tradition of the n**e form in photography and I think I can contribute something. I’ll start with images of my lovely wife and then begin looking for other models. So I’ll start with this image of Julie in…….Hold on a minute….

Yes dear…
…what!?…
…but I’ve already started…..with your photos….
…but we talked about this….yes we did…
…are you sure?…i coulda’ sworn…but…if you’d just…
…just calm down and I’ll…no it’s not like that…
…tasteful, I said tasteful….very artsy…black and white…
…yes it does matter…it’s all in the lighting…
…what do you mean you don’t care….
…honey, it’s art…beauty…tradition…but…just…
…you’re a beautiful woman and I thought…but why not…
…why should your friends and family care….embarrassed how…
…NO, I AM NOT BEING STUPID!…IT’S ART!…
…sorry…no more yelling…how about this…just listen for a minute…
…what if I start with other people first?…
…I met this woman yesterday and…OWWW! THAT HURT!…
…FINE!

Well, apparently I’ll have to find another horizon to expand. Until then, here’s another stupid sunset.

(The image and “story” above are from almost 20 years ago, continuing my two decade photo retrospective. I am at heart a wanna be novelist so the chance to write and post photos on the old photo blog was heaven. And for what it’s worth, the photo did make the cover of the Visit Pensacola visitors guide way back when)
