In preparation for Cry for Justice, the Inner City Ensemble is partnering with Carolyn McCombs to bring her Unconcious Bias webinar to EOF students at PCCC.
The webinar itself includes a series of virtual polls, data and exercises that allow individuals to assess their perceptions and understanding of general collective biases, as well as their own personal biases that go beyond race, in an effort to encourage tolerance, dialogue and growth.

Here are the talented dancers working on Cry for Justice alongside artistic director Nicholas Rodriguez.
In this photo from left to right: Tamere Chambers, Celine Lugo, Nicholas Rodriguez, Jazlin Cespedes, and Imani McCrorey.

The Inner City Ensemble has been hard at work in preparation for Cry for Justice, a new work that includes dance, poetry, and monologues, created by Nicholas Rodriguez and cast members.
Cry for Justice will address themes of social justice and institutionalized racism.

Amanda Gorman Captures the Moment, in Verse
A change in the national direction and a shift in our collective attitude about youth and the arts is already visible in Washington DC today.
Amanda Gorman Captures the Moment, in Verse The youngest inaugural poet in U.S. history will read a work she finished after the riot at the Capitol. “I’m not going to in any way gloss over what we’ve seen,” she says.

As we begin 2021, I am grateful for the capacity of the human spirit to transcend adversity and achieve resiliency. The Inner City Ensemble recently received generous funding from city and county agencies, as well as several foundations, and from generous donors like you on this platform. Many thanks!

We are hosting a screening of "Where Have You Gone, Trayvon?", a work created by Nicholas Rodriguez, which addresses law enforcement and racism, using dance, theater, and spoken word as agents for change. The Company began developing this work in 2016 while in residence at Rosa L. Parks School of Fine & Performing Arts and presented it twice last fall. We believe the dance speaks to the national crisis we find ourselves in now more than ever!
Please join us for a screening and panel discussion on August 6, 2020, 7PM by clicking on the link and registering for the Zoom event.

The Arts Make a Big Difference.
Opinion | Elizabeth Warren Has a Poet on Her Team. Here’s Why That’s a Good Idea. Political rhetoric has gotten dull and empathy fatigue has set in. A more creative communication approach can combat that.
We can't wait to see you all at our performance tomorrow! Here are some important reminders:
Tickets
If you have already purchased your ticket- thank you so much! If you have not yet purchased a ticket, we encourage you to purchase online through our Facebook event page. Tickets for adults ($15) and students ($5) will be sold at the door tomorrow night as well. If you plan to purchase at the door, it is recommended that you please bring cash.
Parking
Street parking is limited in the area. We recommend parking at 125 Broadway, a public parking garage that has a pedestrian overpass connecting the parking garage to PCCC's main building (via the 3rd floor in the parking garage). Signs will be posted in PCCC's building to help you find the theater. There are small, privately operated parking lots in the area, including one at 186 Ellison St. near the theater.

Check out the Inner City Ensemble and the work they do with Nicholas Rodriguez. A truly transformative experience!
