JOIN US FOR EVA'S VILLAGE ANNUAL NETWORKING EVENT OCT. 3 where we'll honor Toni Belford Damiano, Esq. of Damiano Law Offices and Robert Slowikowski of Blue Foundry Bank. For tickets, visit: evasvillage.org/connects-networking
This month we honor those individuals who are on their recovery journeys because we know it takes a lot of courage to ask for help and stay on a path to stability.
We're honored to be a part of so many recovery stories.
We also acknowledge case managers and families who provide ongoing support. We understand how difficult it is to break the cycle of addiction and we know it can't be done alone.
To help someone on their path to recovery, donate here: http://ow.ly/gHCz50KJHKW
Each individual is unique and may respond to treatment and care differently. That's why we offer a variety of social services and clinical programs to help people find their path to recovery:
Recovery Community Center
Halfway Houses for Men & Women
Halfway House for Women with Children: Hope Residence
Outpatient Substance Use Disorders Program
Opioid Overdose Recovery Program
Outpatient Mental Health Services
Each year we help thousands of individuals find pathways to recovery at Eva's. Each one is a life changed. This could not happen without you, our faithful supporters. And for that, we thank you.

Mark recently had surgery that makes walking to the kitchen impossible. So he and Catherine drive to Eva's every day. Staff prepare to-go meals for them, which they eat in the car or take home.
However, the tires on the couple's car were in bad shape and driving was becoming dangerous.
"We were down to the metal rims," Mark said. "Without the car, we would have no other way of getting to Eva's and without Eva's, I wouldn't know where to get food."
An anonymous donor heard about their need and paid for new tires and basic car repairs.
Mark and Catherine were truly grateful for the kindness shown to them.
"To do that for someone you don't even know is amazing," Mark said.
This donor's act of kindness changed Mark and Catherine's lives for the better. You can make an impact on someone's life by clicking this link: evasvillage.org/donate

The moment Angelica walked into Eva's Hope Residence, our Halfway House for Women with Children, 6 years ago something clicked.
"As soon as I walked in I felt safe. I knew in my heart I was done using drugs and alcohol," she said. "I knew I wanted to change."
Angelica had unsuccessfully tried other in-patient residential substance abuse recovery programs, but none of them worked. But this time, her heart was ready and her mind was willing.
The Hope Residence is a unique place where mothers receive substance use recovery support, mental health care, and a full array of supportive services which include child care. While mothers attend counseling sessions, workshops, and meetings, the children are cared for in a safe, nurturing, educational environment.
"I wanted to do whatever the counselors asked me to do to stay clean," she said. "The Mommy and Me program allowed me to understand what it was like to be a mother."
At Hope, Angelica learned how to wake up on time, get into a morning routine, perform chores, and take care of her young daughter, all while working on her recovery. She stayed there for six months before moving to Eva's Transitional Housing. Now, she's at Eva's Apartments and is a manager at her workplace - a far cry from the girl who started drinking at 13.
"It was just a matter of being ready. No one could force me to do it. My kids, my parents, couldn't make me do it. I had to be ready," she said, choking back tears. "I'm so grateful to Eva's."
Angelica's story is just one of the many we could tell of the men and women who successfully complete their treatment at Eva's and go on to live healthy, productive lives. That's why we're here. To give others hope.

THANK YOU to BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company), a longtime Eva's supporter, for volunteering in our Community Kitchen recently. Volunteers helped prepare and serve lunches to our guests. Thank you for giving your time to support our 40-year mission.

Children at Eva's Hope Residence, our Halfway House for Women with Children, are receiving the gift of reading this summer thanks to funding from the Paterson Education Fund. Children participate in fun storytimes, activities, and playtime, all revolving around that week's book selection.
We're very thankful for the grant. Reading to the children is one way our Hope Residence staff nurtures and cares for them while their moms get the recovery and treatment services they need.
