Is there anything more beautiful than a mama with her babe?

This is a long post but I hope you’ll read it.
Hopefully it’s pretty obvious, but I love what I do. I love photographing love in all its forms. I love telling a family’s story, which often begins with a wedding. I love finding magic in the everyday. I love finding ways to make children’s wonder and joy shine. I love showing mothers how beautiful they are. I love knowing that the photos I take for a family will be treasured for generations because the photos I take aren’t just for Mom and Dad, they are for the kids too.
A week away immersing myself in all things family photography with The Family Narrative means I’ve come home with so much to process. It’s been really hard to focus on my normal routine! I’ve been thinking a lot about the value of what I do and how to not only maintain a sustainable business but also how to sustain my creativity that is at the core of what I do. That’s all to say, I can feel myself reaching the cusp of some big changes and it’s a little scary but also very exciting.
Just wanted to put all that out there. Does anyone else think about this kind of stuff, whether a photographer or not, or is it just me?

Caleb is a woodworking teacher and built this beautiful boat with his students as a gift for Maile, his beautiful bride-to-be. I don’t know exactly why a rowboat feels so romantic but it just does. As it’s construction came to completion, we came together for our little shoot in the last bits of daylight at a lake on the outskirts of LA. And, it was all beauty and love. 💞 Oh!
