Pahrump- you make me proud to be a part of your community!
A massive thank you to Shannon Arimura for all of her hard work for this fundraiser and the Moose Lodge 808! She makes a wonderful Heart of the Community Chair ❤️
An even bigger thank you to every person who donated to our total of $600, and the combined total of more than $15,000! 🤯 You are (hands down) the most wonderful supporters. To Michelle Nelson, the kisser of the pig, big kudos to raising the most funds to support women and girls of our community 👏🏻
To all of our community champions- the organizations you represented are blessed to have you as a champion in their corner!
NYESPACE is a piece of my heart, and the work we do always has YOU in mind Pahrump, thank you for adoring us as much as we adore you! 🩵💚

Friday was Session #5 for Cohort 1 of OMA!
One of the hardest habits to break is comparing what we create to what someone else made. Most of us were taught to do that without even realizing it.
In OMA, we gently flip that. Each week, we remind participants that their art is enough-exactly as it is. We focus on what’s there: movement, texture, color, effort, and expression.
What’s coming out of these sessions is bold, layered, and full of life. It’s about trying, adapting, and celebrating what’s still possible.
We can’t wait to share the final pieces with you on May 9th. We’d love to have you join us.

OMA is a simple but powerful program where volunteers are paired one-on-one with individuals living with dementia to create art together. It’s not about being “good” at art- it’s about connection, patience, and showing up.
If you’ve been thinking about getting involved, this is your sign.
👉 We’re just looking for a few more people to make this cohort complete!
If you’re interested or have questions, reach out - we’d love to have you.
OMA Main Video Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

Our 3rd annual How to Garden in Pahrump workshop was a success! 🌞🌿
We hope everyone who joined us had a great time, learned something new, and left feeling a little more confident growing their own food here in our desert climate.
Our materials are available in a public Google Drive — feel free to explore! We’ve included a sneak peek of a few of our favorite topics below 👇
Thank you to everyone who showed up, supported the space, and continues to help NYESPACE grow into something special. 💛

🐷 Charli Update: The Fundraising Bucket Has Moved
Our Kiss a Pig fundraiser bucket is spending the week at A Piece of Alaska Quilt Co. 🧵✨
If you’re stopping in for fabric, supplies, or just to browse, consider tossing any loose change or a few dollars in the bucket while you’re there.
Your donation supports NYESPACE and other amazing local nonprofits, and yes - it also brings Charli one step closer to kissing a pig.
We truly appreciate support for any of the participants, and if NYESPACE has meant something to you- thank you, thank you 🙏
🐷 Fabric, community, and questionable decisions — all in one place.

When I wrote the grant to bring OMA to our community, I honestly didn’t fully understand what I was stepping into. Not because I didn’t do the research - but because this program is something you really have to experience to understand. And now that it’s state-funded, I think we’re all learning together what that truly means.
OMA is incredibly intentional, thoughtful, and rich in ways that are hard to explain.
One of the most important parts of the program is something called “play time.” It sounds simple -maybe even a little silly- but if you’ve ever tried to sit down and create completely abstract art without judgment or expectation… it’s harder than you’d think.
Play time gives us, as facilitators and volunteers, the space to:
• let go of perfection
• remove bias and “rules” about what art should be
• build our own confidence before we ask someone else to do the same
It also helps us better understand what it might feel like to create with a brain affected by dementia, and how powerful it is to simply say, “I’m proud of this.”
Nick and I spent some time at home doing our own “play time,” creating inspiration pieces for Session #3 this Friday. It reminded me why this program matters so much.
