Mitchell County Economic Development Commission is currently seeking to fill the Marketing & Administrative Assistant Position. This position assists the Mitchell County EDC director in implementing economic development activities, which foster, encourage, promote, assist or otherwise aid growth and development in Mitchell County. This position is 30 hrs/week with flexible hours, $18-22/hour, single health insurance, and IPERS. The ideal candidate will be responsible for MCEDC programs reporting, program material creation and maintenance, loan processing, invoicing, assisting a grant foundation, marketing materials, social media content, website maintenance and content, and overall administrative support to the organization. Candidates should be proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher. Candidates should be proficient in social media, marketing tools, and Webflow. Candidates should possess the ability to work unsupervised, be able to multi-task and possess strong communication skills in order to work well with various people and organizations across Mitchell County and the State of Iowa.

Job will require some walking through rough and uneven terrain in all weather and carrying up to 50 lbs. Successful candidate will need to undergo a background investigation and fingerprint check; possess a valid driver’s license.

Venture School Helps North Iowa Entrepreneurs Succeed
Applications Now Open for Fall 2024 Cohort
North Iowa entrepreneurs are achieving success with the assistance of the NIACC Pappajohn Center cohort of the University of Iowa Venture School. Venture School is the premiere business training program in Iowa, emphasizing real-world entrepreneurship and innovation based on a leading-edge curriculum. Participants learn to overcome the chaos and uncertainty of creating new ventures by conducting customer discovery, market research and developing their foundational business model in real-time.
The NIACC Pappajohn Center is now accepting applications for the Fall 2024 cohort of the University of Iowa Venture School program. The Fall 2024 program will begin with an in-person orientation session on Thursday, September 19, 2024. Classes will be held online via Zoom on Thursdays starting September 26 through November 7, 5:30-9:00pm (no class October 3). The Venture School program will culminate with the Venture School Launch Day pitch competition, held in-person at NIACC on November 14, 2024. Venture School participants are assigned a local entrepreneur as their coach who will help advise and guide them as they learn to master the startup process. Participating teams will be eligible to compete for cash awards both locally and at the state level during the Venture School launch day at EntreFEST 2025.
