Use your everyday household items and dress them up with holiday cheer! This easy, fun and money-saving tip uses coffee cups, salad bowls and empty canning jars to dress up the kitchen at Valerie’s House, Naples, Florida.

This red bow garland was strung together and carefully hung to dress up the friendly stuffed animals who greet children at Valerie’s House.

Not only did Vera of Jaye Design decorate our Naples house for the holiday season, she also added a gorgeous, year-round butterfly installation with a special meaning. Vera intentionally placed more butterflies near the entrance of the house and fewer scattered and disbursed as you go on. This represents the amount of support grieving families often receive immediately following their loss, compared to the support that remains long-term. What a powerful message. Ceilings are like a plain wall screaming for attention. So we dressed up this hall to compliment the wall mural.

Take a tomato tower and chicken wire, mix in a vision and a little creativity, and wha-la – red bow holiday tree! Puppy ‘Ruby’ approves.

This rainbow of butterflies in flight is symbolic of personal growth, spiritual rebirth, change, transformation, hope and life, which I thought was a perfect visual message for the families of Valerie’s House.
