This Atlanta project needed to reach R-30 on the roof assembly, and this is how the customer approached it.
Matt walks through how the Batt-Bracket System is being used with batt insulation to build out the roof detail and maximize the performance of the assembly.
Instead of treating the roof as an afterthought, this setup allows the insulation strategy to continue across the roofline while keeping the layout practical for the crew in the field.

The X-Bracket System creates the cavity for exterior spray foam, while the plastic containment helps protect the surrounding work area and gives the foam a more controlled space during installation.
This series shows the process from active spraying to the finished foam coverage across the wall assembly.

Bathhouse Retrofit with InSoFast MAX 3.75 Exterior Panels
This bathhouse retrofit is part of the GTI Energy study project using InSoFast MAX 3.75" panels.
The panels are being installed over the existing exterior wall assembly to help improve performance from the outside. For older buildings, this approach can be especially valuable because it allows the project team to upgrade the envelope without fully rebuilding from the interior.
Exterior insulation is about more than adding R-value. It is about creating a more consistent thermal layer, improving comfort potential, and giving aging buildings a smarter path forward.
The bottom of the wall matters.
In this walkthrough, our founder explains how this customer is detailing the bottom of the wall while using the Batt-Bracket System with exterior batt insulation.
This is one of those areas where the installation strategy needs to be thought through before the siding goes on. The bottom detail helps the wall assembly transition cleanly, supports the exterior insulation layout, and helps the project team plan for the finished cladding system.

This is the part of the X-Bracket most people overlook.
The ribbed base isn’t just a design choice — it’s what helps construction adhesive lock into the bracket and create a mechanical bond.
That matters because jobsite surfaces are rarely perfect. Concrete, masonry, shipping containers, and other tough substrates can all create challenges when you’re trying to build an exterior insulation system that actually works in the real world.
The X-Bracket was designed for that reality.
A small detail in the base helps make the system more versatile across exterior walls, roofs, basements, containers, and retrofit applications.
Sometimes the most important part of the system is the part you almost miss.
This is the kind of jobsite detail we love to see.
On this exterior retrofit project with GTI Energy, the contractor covered the wall sections with plastic before spray foam was applied. That extra step helps contain overspray, protect the surrounding area, and give the foam a more controlled space to cure.
Exterior spray foam can raise real concerns when wind, weather, and surrounding surfaces aren’t accounted for. But details like this show there are smarter ways to approach the process.
Better performance starts with better precautions.

When the insulation strategy moves to the exterior, the interior possibilities open up.
On this Georgia home, the Batt-Bracket System is being used to support exterior insulation across the building envelope. That approach helps reduce thermal bridging, improve comfort, and keep the insulation layer where it can do the most work — outside the framing.
Inside, it also creates a major design benefit: the ability to keep more of the natural wood rafters and framing visible.
