Every August 9 takes place the international day for world's indigenous people, this celebration commemorates over 470 million indigenous people around the globe.
Today here in Costa Rica like every other April 19, we commemorate and pay tribute to over 120.000 indigenous from eight tribes, the Huetar, Maleku, Bribri, Cabécar, Brunka, Ngäbe, Bröran and Chorotega.
Currently this cultural celebration is maybe the least celebrated although it’s very important to know the truth behind our roots and reconnect with our culture to pay respect to our ancestors that have ruled and have enriched these beautiful lands for ages for us to enjoy what we call today a Tropical Paradise.
We the Costarricenses must support our tribes and encourage our traditions to pay our native aboriginal people with more importance, respect and awareness.
