PMTutoring LLC is a NJ-based educational company that specializes in taking a holistic approach! Hey there! I'm Pranoy Mohapatra.

I started tutoring at local companies such as JEI and Kumon in 2008, when I realized there was a problem: students were being force fed the same material in the same, bland way, with no attention to individuality. I began tutoring students privately, and haven't looked back since. I have developed skills and lesson plans that allow my team to connect with each student and teach subjects including

Taking the test more times does not always lead to a higher score. Score improvement depends on the work that happens between test dates. If a student takes the test again without reviewing mistakes or strengthening weak areas, the score stays the same. Progress comes from analyzing errors, practicing the underlying concepts, and changing how problems get approached before the next test.

Strong test performance develops from learned skills such as critical thinking, pattern recognition, and efficient problem solving. These skills improve through practice and instruction over time. With the right guidance, students learn how to analyze questions, understand the underlying concepts, and apply the correct approach under time pressure.

If a student is bad at math, is a high score basically possible?
Not necessarily! The built-in Desmos calculator on the SAT (or a handheld TI84 Plus CE on the ACT) is a powerful tool, and learning its capabilities can directly translate into points. When students combine skill-building with smart tool usage, math becomes more manageable and scores rise faster than expected.

Many students study more for the SAT or ACT but see no score improvement because the study method focuses on quantity instead of on actual improvement. Students often take practice test after practice test and move on without meaningfully reviewing the results. A practice test shows current performance but does not create improvement. Real progress comes from studying each mistake, identifying the reason for the error, and practicing the question type again so the correct approach becomes automatic.

School grading gives partial credit, so a small mistake leads to a small deduction. Standardized tests follow different rules, and 99% counts as 100% incorrect. Many students rush through problems because the brain processes the steps faster than the work appears on paper. This gap leads to errors. Students reduce these mistakes when they slow down and put pencil to paper for each step. Writing the work forces the student to notice the moment where the error appears and ideally ensure they are thinking slowly and carefully enough to avoid it in the first place. This habit reduces repeated mistakes over time.
