FOAM ROLLING 101⤵️
.
💥As foam rolling continues to gain popularity, we thought it would be good to share 3 keys to get the most out of your recovery sessions:

1️⃣ More pressure does not seem to work “better” in improving ROM (keep this in mind when buying a fancy roller).

2️⃣ Rolling for 5-10sec is good but 30-60sec is best. Don’t rush it!

3️⃣ Intermittent rolling between bouts of static stretching helps maintain ROM gains.

🦾If you’ve been a patient at TJC you know we love foam rollers (and lacrosse balls) for one simple reason: they WORK!

✅Do you love to foam roll? If so, what’s your favorite type of foam roller? Sound off below!

#MondayMotivation from the 🐐⁣

Hyperbole aside, let’s talk a little about quitting:⁣

🤔Does giving up automatically make you a ‘quitter’?⁣
🤔When is it okay to say “enough” and walk away?⁣
🤔How can we discern between ‘quitting’ and walking away to preserve our mental and physical well-being?⁣

After well over one MILLION patient visits at TJC, we’ve learned one thing for sure:⁣

𝐓𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐩 𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐍𝐎𝐓 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐚𝐬 𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠.⁣

In fact, many of our patients are in pain because of that very reason: the drive to keep pushing forward ultimately harms their bodies and sets them back.⁣

This Olympic season really brought this into perspective as we watched @simonebiles take a step back and opt out of certain events to preserve her mental and physical health.⁣

✅It’s okay to take a step back and reconsider your goals.⁣
✅It’s okay to say “this is not for me.”⁣
✅It’s okay to acknowledge that “something feels off.”⁣

𝐅𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐛𝐨𝐝𝐲, 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲.⁣

Keep moving forward and, as MJ said, never quit [on yourself] 😊⁣
