The Park District's thoughts are with the people and communities impacted by the Southern California wildfires. In response to the current crisis, the Park District sent its Office of Emergency Services (OES) engine and a team of four firefighters to assist with firefighting efforts in Southern California. The team has been on site since Jan. 8 and will remain committed to providing support as long as needed.

The Park District stands with all those affected and is grateful for the brave first responders and community members who are working tirelessly during this difficult time. The Park District deeply understands the dangers and destruction wildfires can bring. The 1991 Oakland Hills Firestorm remains a reminder, having claimed 25 lives and destroyed 3,469 homes.

The Park District has updated fees for 2025, including simplifying parking fees and eliminating dog fees, among other changes.

Parking is now $5 at parks where kiosks are present. Fees previously ranged from $3 to $6 depending on the specific park. The new fee does not apply to Del Valle Regional Park on weekends and holidays, April through Labor Day, where there is a flat $10 entrance fee for parking and other fees to expedite park entry.

Dog fees have also been eliminated for 2025. Dogs are required to be on leash in designated areas, including trailheads, parking lots, paved trails, and picnic areas. Dogs must also be on leash around horses and in parks where cattle are present. A dog permit is still required to walk more than three dogs at a time and professional dog walkers are required to obtain a permit regardless of how many dogs they walk at one time (limit of six dogs). https://www.ebparks.org/about-us/whats-new/news/visiting-nature-just-got-easier
