Today, as we honor Memorial Day, we are reminded of the extraordinary courage and sacrifices made by the brave women and men who served our nation. Their selflessness and dedication have shaped the course of history and secured the freedoms we claim today.
At Mosaic Coaching Solutions we recognize the profound importance of leadership, service, and resilience. As we reflect on this day, let us also extend our gratitude to the families of those who have served, for they too have sacrificed and supported their loved ones in their noble duty.
May we carry forward the spirit of unity and gratitude embodied by Memorial Day, and may we strive to lead with honor, integrity, and more compassion in our day-to-day endeavors.
Thank you to all who have served, and to those who continue to serve. We salute you, especially today!

Radical Self Care
Especially during these next couple weeks of holiday indulgence consider these 6 tips…
1. Meditate for 10 minutes: whatever you call meditation, be it staring out the window as the squirrel or hummingbird banties about, staring at the fabric while ironing your clothes or the hand motion as you sweep the kitchen floor. For those with a more developed practice, you know what to do. The idea is to be present with where you are – maybe you’ll just listen to your breath (inhale/exhale, maybe pause at the top of the inhale)…
2. Listen to your body: our bodies provide all sorts of intelligence – whether it’s our increased heart rate; a lump in the throat, even a burp or flatulence. Listen up – what’s it telling you? Maybe you need just 30 minutes more sleep this week, or a glass of water in between the eggnog or mimosa, or to skip slathering on the hot sauce because it bloats you! What do I need right now? Listen up – the answer is right there – take heed as your body will thank you!
3. Focus on your own goals: what’s your micro-goal for this time of the year? Perhaps calling one friend each day during the week between Christmas and New Year’s? Maybe it’s to write your intentions this week; spend less money buying for yourself during exchanges and returns next week. Set a goal or two – it’ll be so satisfying to go for it.
4. Be gentle with yourself: ahhh, here we just want you to be as compassionate, kind and gentle with yourself as you are with your friends and family. How can you grant yourself a little extra space, pause or grace?
5. Maintain physical health: what’s your program? Is it walking, running, stretching your limbs before your feet hit the floor each morning? Whatever it is you do most of the time, do it this week too!
6. Set and honor healthy boundaries: What are you saying yes and no to this week? How are you unapologetically protecting your perimeter or peace? This is not an invitation to ignore the people and causes important to you – just the opposite, in what language will you say “that doesn’t work for me” or “ not this time, but thanks” or “I’d love to, where do I sign up?” Be intentional about self-focus during this time and being mindful of your emotional well-being.

As the holiday season is upon us, we find ourselves reflecting on the incredible journey we've shared throughout the year. It has been an honor and privilege to work alongside you, fostering growth, leadership, and success (on your own terms)...
In the spirit of gratitude, we extend our warmest wishes for a joyful holiday season and a prosperous New Year. May this time of celebration be filled with laughter, moments of reflection, and the joy of shared accomplishments. May it also include a mindful eye out for someone who may be suffering or feel alone. Apparently, this time of year is when self harm is at an all time high, as many among us experience isolation, despair and extreme loneliness. Please check on your people - especially those who seem to have it all together...
As we look ahead to the coming year, we are excited about the opportunities for continued collaboration and growth. Your dedication to personal and professional development inspires us, and we are grateful for the trust you place in Mosaic Coaching Solutions. Whether it's our leadership programs, 1:1 executive coaching, empowerment or corporate well-being, we are here for you!
Thank you for making this year exceptional. Here's to a bright and prosperous future!

Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Day - these images of nature remind me that I AM ALIVE!
Today I get to be in the here & now, when so many others who’ve had this diagnosis didn’t get to stick around and talk about getting on the other side of it. 18 years later, I’m thriving, only and always because my God had a plan for my life that He wanted me to realize. I’m humbled by that reality and take every day as an invitation to be better - in my relationships, in my service to others, in my thoughts and especially when I choose my words and my delivery of them. I don’t always get it right, but each day that I remind myself that I AM ALIVE is a day to keep turning towards the best version of me that I can be. I LOVE LIFE and I’m grateful for MY LIFE!
Check out these 6 things to look out for - pass it around. It’s mind-blowing how many people are diagnosed these days, often in Stage 4 given symptoms are hard to notice. I have 3 friends, all black women who have sisters in their 60s who are battling this horrible disease. How is that possible? Keep looking under the hood - keep asking your doc questions and be bold enough to ask those you love if something seems off.
Have a beautiful day!
Michele

If your year has been anything like mine, then it's been a pretty lively ride. There have been lots of celebrations, loss, heartache and unspeakable joy, all rolled into this single 12-month period. It's our hope that as 2022 comes to a close, you'll take a few minutes to reflect on all of it - to pause, take a few deep breaths and to love the skin you're in! As always, we are grateful for your time and partnership. From all of us at MCS . . .
Merry Christmas
Happy Hanukkah
Happy Kwanzaa
Happy New Year
There's a growing conversation each year in our family about what this day really represents and how it is that we've come to celebrate the hardships that were imposed on Native Americans. I'm sure we're not celebrating the hardships, but it's my hope that there's space to celebrate the harvest and the autumn season and to consider what it means to each of us. There's so much about our nation's history that is troublesome, but at the end of the day I'm glad to be an American. I'm also glad to pause - to reflect on the bounty and blessings of my life and to express gratitude for those of you who have invited me along on your journey of self discovery and self acceptance.
Whether you spend the day eating and watching sports, serving others or just being still, it's my hope that you'll be amongst people who nourish and affirm you and that you'll enjoy a nice piece of pecan pie (my personal favorite)!
Happy Thanksgiving from MCS

Happy Veterans Day! On Wednesday, it was crisp and cool - a traditional east coast November day, with clear blue skies. I had to get out early as a full schedule was ahead of me, so I walked for an hour then decided to do my 30 minute meditation outdoors - it was a beautiful day and since I was wearing my hat and glove...
Labor is the backbone of American life.
We salute all of the laborers who make our economy work!
During the late 19th century when all the factory fires were happening somebody, somewhere decided that the workers deserved better conditions and the employers needed to be more responsible for the conditions under which their employees were working.
While most of us think of Labor Day as the unofficial end of summer, a day with family & friends, barbecues, perhaps one last run down the shore, and for many on the east coast of the U.S. it's also the day after which you're not supposed to wear white clothing (ha!), it's really a day to honor and celebrate those who labor to make everything run.
The true meaning behind the holiday is to celebrate workers and the labor movement that is responsible for delivering so many rights that we all enjoy today and oftentimes take for granted. Before The Movement began, many workers in the U.S. faced long hours, no weekends or holidays off, low wages and especially unsafe and oftentimes unhealthy working conditions. For a long time now, workers have come together and fought for labor rights by organizing and unionizing, winning rights such as the ability to collectively bargain, the five-day work week, the eight-hour work day, having family and medical leave. How about healthcare, retirement-security, occupational health & safety precautions (the formation of OSHA in 1970)? All of these moments are why we pause to honor and recognize the laborers who make this country work. Work that continues today - from minimum wage debates to wage theft, to how to support working families, it all was born of the earliest days of the Labor Movement.
Inquiry: How are you thinking about labor these days? There seems to be a shift underway... I'd love to hear your thoughts, so tell me how you think about labor and the way it impacts the ways in which you live, love, work and lead?
fun fact: one of the earliest recorded strikes in the U.S. occurred in 1768 when New York journeymen tailors protested a wage reduction

The Choice Is Yours, Always
Especially in our deeply complex, often overburdened, highly demanding leadership roles, it's easy to feel imposed upon and as though we "have to" get things done. What if we shifted our thinking to acknowledge that it's all a choice? Notwithstanding that being a leader is sometimes laden with opportunities to be our best it's also true that some days we just don't feel like it. Here's where the power that comes from choice kicks in.

Be More ‘Interested’ Than ‘Interesting’
In my opinion, the most powerful way a new manager can be taken seriously and begin to build trust is to be more “interested” than “interesting.” The notion of asking more questions and being genuinely interested in the answers creates an instant connection, particularly once the manager has described their vision for the team organization. - Michele Davenport, MOSAIC COACHING SOLUTIONS
