If you watch those real estate TV shows, you might think that selling a house is as simple as placing a sign out front and holding an open house. And most of the social media posts from my fellow Realtors® (us included!) typically focus only on the end result – a great sale price, speedy sale, happy smiling clients, etc. But what’s rarely discussed is how complex a real estate transaction is (100’s of pages of legal docs, disclosures, and contracts), how easy it is for it to go sideways, and the enormous stakes for both buyers and sellers.

Selling a home is often the most important transaction a homeowner will ever be involved in. While beautifully prepping a home for max buyer appeal is a key skill (and we’re one of the best at that, btw), an experienced Realtor® who understands the legal aspects of real estate, sales strategy, and process is absolutely critical when the inevitable curveball is thrown your way. Would you trust your most valuable asset to an inexperienced agent or an algorithm? I sure wouldn’t.

This sale is a wonderful example. We beautified this home, made it shine, and marketed it expertly. We got a great offer at a solid price. But along the way, life threw its inevitable curveball.
