Well, that was fun! Thank you Carole Borner Alessandrino and sue Sue Finney Lefave for your help giving away our patriotic pinwheels!!! They were a bit hit with the neighborhood kids!! Happy fourth from your Fox Mill Estates Homeowners Association. Follow us in twitter @FMEHA1.
We are new to the neighborhood and over the last few months have experienced several power outages for no apparent reason. Rumor is it is due to a faulty transformer Dominion doesn't want to pay to fix. I'm curious if the HOA knows if this is true and if there is a way for our HOA to address power issues with Dominion? Thanks in advance.
Great messages at today’s Fox Mill Estates Homes Association Chalk the Walks event. #spirit and #encouragingwords for sure @3_cheer_chix @aggsalessandrino! 💚💙 #seahawkproud💚💙

Hmm...I spotted a couples bears in windows in my neighborhood in the loops off Bradwell, then I saw this online.

A residential community in Oak Hill, Virginia. Fox Mill Estates consists of 1,144 single-family colonial, traditional, and contempory homes built between 1972 and 1985 on lots ranging from ¼ acre to ½ acre.

Although the site was originally farmland that was cleared for construction, the residents have planted so many trees that in the spring and autumn the gardens in front of the houses blaze with color. The community is located in western Fairfax County near the town of Herndon, Virginia and the community of Reston, Virginia. It is bordered by Lawyers Road, Reston Parkway, West Ox Road, Fairfax Coun

This was posted on the Fox Mill Mom’s page…thought I would share.

BSA is going to be holding a chance to learn about all the various Scouting programs in our area on Thursday 12 May from 6-8p at Frying Pan Park. It is a great oppertunity for parents of kids of all ages to learn about programs for next Fall.

There will be representatives to discuss Cub Scouts, BSA Troops, Venture Scouts and STEM Scouts. It is a great chance to talk to various BSA Leaders and hear about the programs for kids of all ages.

I am going to be there to talk to people about STEM Scouts, a new test program for BSA, but would be happy to talk Cub Scouts as well.

What fun day! Kids found tons of eggs, enjoyed homemade cookies, and had a blast with Captain All-Star. So thankful for volunteers, including Evan and Catherine Zimmerman, Kathy Brown, Marjorie Crawford, Mike Workosky, and Sarah Gibbs.

If anyone needs a great b day party, we recommend Captain All-Star. He had the kids laughing, singing, jumping, and dancing.

Happy Spring Fox Mill!

Great advice!

Whether you live, shop, or work in Fairfax County, please consider adding the non-emergency number, 703-691-2131, to your phone. The non-emergency line should be used for situations such as a crash where no one is injured, a suspicious person or to file a police report. In the event of an emergency, call 911.

How To File A Complaint Against Dominion - Power Outages
Tired of power outages wrought from poor infrastructure? File a complaint with the State Corporation Commission against Dominion here: https://www.scc.virginia.gov/pages/Electric-Company-Complaint-Form?

Indicate you live in Fox Mill Estates and are experiencing equipment and maintenance-related (non-storm and non-force Majeure) power outages on a continuous and unacceptably frequent basis. Don’t let the “Have you contacted the utility? (If so, what was the utility’s response.)” question scare you away from filing. If you haven’t, just put “No” and file anyway. If you have a story, include it as well.

After filing, you can also email:
Hunter Mill Board of Supervisors and ask they intervene on our behalf with Dominion: [email protected]
Dominion Power’s Executive Escalation Address: [email protected]

Tell all your friends and family and neighbors and community members in Fox Mill who are impacted by the power situation here.

There is a ton of excitement for the first-ever FMEHA Community Yard Sale to be held October 2, 2021, 8am-1pm

Please join in by selling or buying – or both! FMEHA will advertise the yard sale in local news and social sites, and will post signs at the entrances to the neighborhood.

If you want to sell items at your residence in the yard sale:

1. Go to https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0c48aaa62ba2f85-fmeha and enter your address so we can get an idea of the number of homeowners participating. We also will post a running list of individual residences (address only) on the website and Facebook so buyers can find you.

2. Begin gathering and pricing your goodies. For recommendations on how to price your items, check out this good read https://www.angi.com/articles/ultimate-garage-sale-pricing-guide.htm

3. Homeowners are encouraged to post signs at the end of their street or in their yard a few days before the event. FMEHA will post community yard sale signs at the entrances to the neighborhood.

4. Be ready to buy or sell at 8 am. Please note many people begin trolling early!

Start gathering your goodies! Questions? Email Cindy Workosky [email protected].

The next FMEHA social event is our Fall Community Picnic, scheduled for Sept 18, from 3-6 pm (rain date Sept 19 same time).

The picnic will be held in the spirit of the ###II Olympic Games. Our “FMEHA Olympics,” will feature highly competitive, strenuous, mental challenging events (wink, wink), such as Fly Swatter Golf, Olympic Ring Toss, Pool Noodle Hurdles, and the great Pie Eating Contest. We also will have a craft table led by a local artist and teacher.

More details will follow, but in order to make it happen I need help. Please consider lending a hand to make this event a reality. I need folks to lead games, serve food, and help with various other items. It’s not a heavy lift and will be so much fun.

Email me at [email protected]. Please say YES!

General information

The Story of Fox’s Mills. In October of 1786, Amos Fox, age 47, was granted by the Court of Fairfax County, one acre of land on which to build a mill on Difficult Run. This is at the present intersection of Fox Mill Road and Waples Mill Road. His parents, George and Mary Fox, had come to Virginia from New Jersey. Amos decided to build a grist mill for grinding grain into flour. Three of his sons, Morris, Isaac and Gabriel inherited the milling business. By 1840, there were three mills housed together in one large three-story building. The mills were woolen, grist and flour. Gabriel Fox ran the mills himself and was considered to be a wealthy man. Around 1840, Gabriel married a woman from Alexandria and moved her out to the country. There was no school for the children of the area to attend, so Mrs. Fox had a one-room, log school house erected and it was referred to as “The school at Fox’s Mills.” The school was located on Waples Mill Road just a mile from present day Route 50. Both Fox Mill Road and Fox Mill Estates are named in the memory of the three mills belonging to the Fox Family. This history was researched by Linda H. Sittig, who at the time of the report, was a reading specialist at Fox Mill Elementary School. Ever since Linda was a teenager, she has had a keen interest in history. She has gone on to a career of writing historical fiction. Linda is also an active blogger.
