Many people enter relationships hoping to find happiness.
But lasting relationships often ask something deeper of us.
They invite us into connection.
They challenge us to grow.
They reveal our strengths and our blind spots.
They offer opportunities for healing, trust, vulnerability, and transformation.
Happiness is a beautiful part of healthy relationships, but it was never meant to be the only measure of success.
Sometimes the greatest gift a relationship offers is not comfort. It's growth.

Your twenties can feel both wide open and overwhelming at the same time.
In this clip of the new episode of the Rooted and Restored Podcast, Kali sits down with to talk about the strange tension many young adults experience when the structured path of childhood suddenly disappears.
For years, life followed a familiar rhythm.
School. Milestones. Clear next steps.
Then adulthood arrives and the options multiply.
Career changes. Moving out. Relationships. New cities. Different timelines.
Kali reflects on how easy it can be to stay comfortable when the number of possibilities feels overwhelming, and how learning to move forward anyway becomes part of building self trust.
It is an honest look at the pressure young adults face and the freedom that can come from choosing your own path.

Wrapping up this incredible podcast episode; this final clip For parents and mentors, .betweensessions offers this reminder:
Think back to teaching your child how to do laundry for the first time.
Colors mixed with whites.
Frustration.
Messiness.
Until they know, they don't know.
Growth is icky sometimes. It requires sitting in discomfort long enough for skill to develop.
If you can see where they are capable of going, sometimes your role is to hold steady while they figure it out.
And for the young adult navigating fear and uncertainty?
You are not alone.
Life in your twenties and thirties can feel overwhelming.
But tomorrow is a new day.
Everything can change.
Especially when you stay in the work.

YoungAdults
We often hear the message that we need to be completely healed before entering a relationship.
But what if some of our deepest healing actually happens within relationships?
The truth is that relationships have a way of revealing the parts of ourselves we cannot always see alone. They challenge us, trigger us, stretch us, and invite us into growth.
Not because something is wrong with us, but because relationships often become mirrors reflecting what still needs our attention.

Some things never change.
From her little VPK graduation cap and medal…to advancing out of middle school with the exact same expression on her face.
Same eyes.
Same spirit.
Just a little taller.
Watching Syd grow has been one of the greatest gifts. Time moves fast, but somehow pieces of who they’ve always been stay right there in front of you.
So proud of you, Syd. High school, here you come.

There’s something really special about watching my teenagers and adult children begin to appreciate slowing down, movement, breath, and connection.
Leaning into spaces that bring joy, presence, and healing has been such a gift in this season of life, and has become one of those spaces for me.
And honestly… I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t pretty dang proud of myself for showing up in ways I hope their future selves remember, strong, connected, grounded… and maybe even able to hold a boat pose longer than they can!

Two years post grad school and she did it. Today she passed her state licensure test!
So proud of you, .l.i Watching your growth as a therapist, leader, daughter, and human has been such a gift. Your heart for people, your willingness to sit in hard places with others, and your commitment to healing has always been bigger than a title… but today, the title matters too.

This journey required long days, sacrifice, discipline, tears, growth, and so much courage behind the scenes. And somehow through it all, you stayed grounded in compassion and authenticity.
The world needs therapists like you.
We are so proud of you, Kali. Keep rooting people back to themselves. 🌿

The older I get, the more I realize family pictures aren’t really about getting the “perfect” photo. They’re about remembering who we were in this moment. The chaos, the growth, the healing, the laughter, the connection, and the versions of ourselves we’re all becoming together.
Blended families, busy schedules, changing seasons, growing kids… and somehow still finding moments that feel rooted.
So grateful for these people and the life we’re building together.
