The N. Chas. Cultural Arts Dept. is committed to fostering a multi-discipline arts initiative that r The North Charleston Cultural Arts Department was created by City Council in 1979 to plan for and support the arts and cultural activities throughout the community.

The department provides a variety of programs and services that help make North Charleston a great place to live, work, and play. A vast array of multi-discipline arts, cultural, and history initiatives touch the lives of an average of 95,000 program participants each year, with an additional 200,000 people served through public facilities.

NOW HIRING TEACHING ARTISTS IN ALL DISCIPLINES FOR ELEMENTARY AFTER-SCHOOL ARTS ENRICHMENT! Part-Time Contract Position. Must be available for afternoon hours (Monday – Thursday). Compensation will include 2 hours of instructional time per week, one hour of prep/breakdown time per class, and one hour of curriculum/lesson planning time per week (5 hrs total). Program runs from September 2021 to first week of June 2022. Work will take place at a select North Charleston area elementary school. School site will change every two months.

Must be skilled in an arts discipline (visual art, music, theatre, dance, literary, etc.), previously worked with children, and able to work well with an average of 30 children at a time. Background check will be required.

Pay Rate: Individual Artists - $30/hour, Arts Groups - $40/hour

The North Charleston Farmers Market is returning to its regular format/full capacity this month! That means that ALL types of vendors are now welcome to apply (was previously limited to just specialty foods). Applications accepted on an ongoing basis.

CALL FOR VENDORS! We'll be transitioning back into our regular, full capacity market in June! That means welcoming back live music (5-7pm) and allowing more vendors. Artists, crafters, and specialty food vendors interested in participating can fill out an application. There is no fee to apply and apps will be accepted on an ongoing basis.
